Are you asking if we are intentionaly doing something that we no is wrong and then just say, oh well I'm sorry forgive me blah, blah? I mean I do things everyday that are wrong, but its our human nature, we are no where near being perfect. When I mess up and I do it alot, I really feel bad and very disgusted with myself, but I ask God to help me do better and he does help me get better. When you become christian and trust in Christ to save you, you change but it is an on going process. You make mistakes one after another but like a baby learning to walk , we as christians get better and better through the workings of the Holy Spirit which lives inside your heart when you accept Christ. |

oh and by the way, what do you mean by what *your* not supose to do? Last I looked this was the NEW commandent Jesus gave to us. Jesus also said " All things are lawfull but all things are not Profitable. " So when we do mess up, it isnt profitable for us to do so, but it is lawfull. Jn:13:34: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Jn:13:35: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. |

i see what you mean, i think. it is those that to the world, profess to be good Christians but deliberately (and over and over) drink every weekend,go to strip clubs and bear false witness against their neighbors. i also do not understand how these people profess to be christians? yet i have known good Christians that have always tried to do what the Bible says. I even know reborn good Christians that have left their past behind. this post is not for the Real christians but for those that " pre tend" to the outer world that they are very good. it's really not a question of even if they are "saved" it is the front they portray to the world that is the reason probably for this post. i am not trying to point any fingers and hurt the righteous. i am trying to answer this post. |

i ent a christian, but a muslim.
and yes i do think God forgives our sins, but it iznt like "im guna go get drunk, then ask God for forgivness, he might as well 4give me".
it isnt like that. no way.
if doing things ur not supposed to WITHOUT knowing ur not supposed to do it, then i guess by then God duz 4give u.
it depends whether you'll repeat the sin or not.
i guess thatz all i have to say.

I don't think Christianity or God has anything to do with these things. These are not God's issues, these are your life issues. Only you can help yourself in the end... Ryphis |

VELL (BLacKStYLe puts on her thinkin cap) This is a good question - one I have asked many times. I think if u do something over and over again, as long as u ask for forgiveness from your heart with the intention not to do it again, God will forgive you (as long as you mean it) Sometimes it is a bit trying, but if really don't intend to do it again, God will forgive you. If you do something wrong and justify it by saying God will forgive you anyway, this is not right. That's an issue you have to go directly to God with. PEACE*LOVE |

As sinners, we constantly need to ask for forgiveness, hence, the reason for Jesus' death and resurrection. Perfection is completeness and this is completeness in ones inner self, and peace. To obtain to be perfect, as in doing no wrong, is a fruitless endeavor, as we cannot do no wrong, unless you're the Pope, of course...sorry, I couldn't resist, and I'm not Catholic, by the way. And I think there was only one man who didn't sin, and that is Jesus Christ. The point is, we are to acknowledge our sins, ask God for forgiveness for the acts, and go on, knowing we will fail again. But God's forgiveness will sustain us and relieve us of the guilt we feel for doing wrong. Someone who deliberately does wrong and then asks for forgiveness is not sincere in their desire to obtain forgiveness, and God knows this, and who these people are, and it is up to Him to sort them out. We are to judge the actions of the person, not the person's soul. Free Girl

Also, there is no time limit on how many times you're allowed to ask for forgiveness. We are to forgive our brothers and sisters 7 x 70 times a day, for the things they do to us that are wrong. And if you can't forgive others, why should you get forgiveness from God? Forgiveness and Love are the keys to changing this world. Free Girl |

Part of repenting is to forsake the sin you are repenting for. That means to do your best to never commit that sin again. God will forgive those who genuinely feel sorry for what they did and ask him, with sincerity, for forgiveness. If you go out a few days later and do the same thing again, how sincere are you? Are you really sorry for what you did? If one truly feels sorrow for a mistake he/she made and wants to repent, he she needs to demonstrate that desire by sinning no more. . . Obviously, no one could ever be COMPLETELY free of sin. That's why the Savior died for us. But we should be making our best efforts to not willfully commit sin. ~melodious |

I believe that you are supposed to ask GOD to forgive you when you are truly sorry. HE knows if you aren't. GOD knows our weaknesses and I beleive that if oyu do something wrong 15 times, and you are truly sorry everytime you did it, he will forgive you. |

24003 - I agree. I didn't mean to suggest that if you commit the sin again then there's no forgiveness. God understands that overcoming sin is a process, especially if there's an addiction involved. Sometimes you slip up. God know the true intent of our hearts, so if we're sincerely trying to change, He'll forgive us when we have slip ups! :)melodious |
