I agree with you. There is something wrong when people that have committed violent acts are being treated better than homeless people. If we can afford to house the inmates for the rest of their lives, why not the homeless as well. At least with the homeless we have a chance at making productive citizens out of them. I think the death penalty should be used more often. Trouble :) |

When the Victorian Irish poet & playwrite Oscar Wilde was sent to prison and saw for himself the terrible conditions of British prisons he said:
"If this is how the Queen treats her prisoners
then she doesn't deserve to have any." LOL.
Today he'd have little to complain of ... But even
so, I think pushing bamboo shoots up thro' their bodies is a bit much .... XXXXXXX |

Yeah, the chair is a likely more horrifying way to die. Still a young convict should never bend over in the shower room. |

I understand what you are saying. But here in Phoenix Arizona we have a sherriff by the name of Joe Arpaio. He took all those luxuries away from those who spend time in his jail. He feeds them baloney sandwiches and fruit only twice a day and water, no sodas or coffee. The prisoners are issued loud colored uniforms as well as pink underwear. Sherriff Arpaio has always said to those who complained, "If you don't like my jail, then don't break the law". He has no trouble getting re-elected. :) |

Hey TQ. When I first read this I said to myself, now that sounds like something TQ would write and I slapped myself silly when I saw this is was in fact you that wrote this. Well El toro salutes you for a well written post. now lets see....Now why do you suppose we have had a series of prison break outs lately. Seems to me that they live in most hospitable sorroundings. With all this money to purchase this items I wonder why we still have prison overcrowding and a Correctional Officer shortage. Ok TQ hasta luego from El Toro. |

Tessek we can thank the Liberals for the way that jail is today. I have said this many times before on other posts when the question life in prison or death has been asked. There are a whole bunch of people out there that say life in prison so a person thinks about thier crime. Its not like it used to be before. They had to do hard manual labor for so many hours a day and the rest of the time they were in complete lock down. It used to be considered hell on earth. Now with all the modern fancies that they have, who wouldn't want to spend thier life in jail, with a free meal, a warm bed, cable tv, a weight room, a hot shower, a computer with internet service. Now my husband actually said well maybe those that use the internet get it because of good behavior. I laughed and said my idea would be cold mush with that bread and water for good behavior. So I totally agree with you. Its out of hand and if you ask me, what punishment are they receiving? Maybe that is why there are so many repeat offenders!......Azairyia |

I hear what your saying! I read about Timothy McVeigh today saying that he doesn't mind being in prison because he just lays in bed all day and watches cable television and he doesn't have to pay the electric or cable bills. If prison is meant to deter people from committing crimes, why do they make it like Club Med? ~melodious |

Hey this is an idea I had years ago> It's called THE PIT. A prison system built in the middle of desert areas, that goes a mile deep into the earth. Occasionally the good prisoners will get to be shuffled out and shown the sun and blue sky. But the rest will be damned to the hell of The Pit, to think about the life they took, or the crime they committed. Realize this only for Deathrow Inmates, not drug offenders, thiefs, or other material crimes. This is a prison for people who commit horrible sex crimes or violations to other's lives. Unethical? Not really considering that every action must go acknowledged. Why should you get to see the sun and exercise if you took that right from someone else??? Ryphis |

I agree Azairyia. The Democrats are responsible for these "luxury prisons" that are abundant throughout the U.S.They also do many other things that don't make sense, but I'll get into that later.lol |

When I really think about it, I would not mind prison much because I would get to use the internet, or sit in my sell and think about Philosophy all day for years and not have to work. The only think that would a bad thing is the food, and the lack of cleanliness, and the crassness that many prisoners posess. |

I totally agree with you. Another thing I protest is the "Last meal" before excicution. I mean, why does a murderer get to eat the greatest dinner of his life while a law-abiding citizen might have the worst pork chops of his life and then has a heart attack. Xenon-Trioxide-131 |

I guess. But they are going to be there for the rest of their lives. And having bamboo shoots grow through you sounds really inhuman. I dont think they should have acess to all the goods like that. But not tortured like the Vietnam people. And i dont think it really matters how they die. If they die they die...i dont think it really matters how they get there. |
