Review: Enemy at the Gates [Posted By Snake92589]

Title: Enemy at the Gates Stars: Jude Law, Ed Harris, etc. Genre: Action/Romantic/Drama/War

Review:

This movie is about the Siege of Stalingrad, the long battle between the Nazis and the Russians (Soviets)... Anyways, the movie's gruesome opening scene does not show many suffering (that's good and bad). Saving Private Ryan did such a great job at the horror of war that it is actually scary to watch. Fortunately, this film does not show *that* much blood and gore. It is gruesome at some scenes and all, but that's it. There's a little (alot) of blood here and there but it all turns out okay. Anyways, Jude Law plays a young Russian sniper that turned the tables on the Germans. Russia was almost defeated, and this city is what's holding it all together (mostly). So now this reporter has witnessed this sniper's skill in the opening scene (it's so great, man), he now plans to boost up their fellow comrade's hopes and morality by having someone to look up to. A hero. That hero is the sniper. Well now he goes on meeting people and going out to kill more generals and all, UNTIL this german officer calls in Major Konig (played by Ed Harris). He is very great, both snipers are very clever, they use their surroundings to blind, wound, and disable as many different things as they can. They use trickery and more. Anyways, the germans are mad at the Russians for killing their men, so they sent in their sniper (like I said before :D). Anyways, these two fight on and on. There's also a love story, too. It's really great, I enjoyed the movie *alot*. One thing that disturbs me is that even though this movie isn't all about guts and gore, it makes us so attached to the characters, that it makes me so sad when one of them dies! Like the Russian sniper's partners... We learn their personality, their style, their friendship. And during the midst of battle they die... horribly. They get betrayed, everything. I really don't wanna give so much away, It's just that the scenes are gruesome, there are lots of deaths, and there is a love story. Otherwise, this great movie will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first minute to the last minute. On a rating between 1-10, I would give it a 9, but I don't want your hopes too high. I give it an *8.5/10.0*. That is my review. Thank you.
