I have seen many different posts, with attached comments wanting to know if prisoners can go to church. I am writing this, in hopes that this question can be answered. I have selected this catergory because those which seek this advice, would be more likely to come here than any other catergory.
In most prisons across the U.S., prisoners are allowed to attend church services. These services are held at various times, depending on the prison. Many local churches also have prison ministries, in which prisoners may attend a service, or perhaps (in many cases ) prisoners that are willing to participate, are allowed one on one visits with members of the church. Alot of times, a pastor or minister assumes this task. This gives those prisoners that wish to participate an opportunity to hear the word of God, and even to recieve literature (where allowed) ranging from gospel tracts to actual Bibles.
I am not aware of any prison, which denys the prisoners the right to worship. The only exceptions to this would be perhaps Maximum Security Prisons, or those prisoners which are currently in solitary confinement.
If you are, or know of someone who is in a prison, and they are not allowed to attend church, in any form, you should contact the Warden of the prison, and request such services be held. Every person has the right to seek God, regardless of thier crime. It is not up to the people, of this earth, to judge one for thier sin, that is left up to the Lord. Society punishes a person for violating the laws set by man, but should not have the right to decide who can or cannot worship Christ, or any other religion.
I have personaly attended a prison church service, while visiting a close friend, who was incarcerated. Why should a pisoner not be allowed to attend church, or worship while in prison?............ Queen B
