It upsets me when people judge a book by its cover. I tried to raise my children to see the good in everyone. I don't really see what a person looks like. I would be in trouble if I had to describe someone. All I really see is the way a person acts not they way they look. Stormchaser  |

It goes back to that old saying - "Never judge a book by it's cover." It always winds up being nothing more then a guessing game while presenting a true version of "shallowness." It's a shame it happens because many great friendships have never had the chance to take off. Antona  |

people as a whole look at society from a visual perspective. They react a certain way to things that come into view. this is only natural for people to do this. So if you dress and act a certain way, then society will look at you that way, regardless of the person you really are. So you have to learn to deal with this if you choose to look the way you do. I totally agree Lydi, people always judge others by looks. We have this group of older women that come in to where I work and when you mentioned Blue hair, it struck me these ladys have bright streaks of all colors in their grey hair and I personally think its kinda of neat! My coworkers make fun of them but I have to say they are the sweetest women and they are funny and kind,I get angry at some who judge them.People are just plain mean! Diana  |

You're absolutly right that it's wrong...it's understandable...but wrong. It's human nature to form an opinion based on first impressions but it has been my experaince that first impressions are ususally (not always) meaningless. I recently met a young lady who had shaved her head and pierced just about every part of her face and in my opinion distroying her natural beauty. My thought was omg this girl has serious attitude issues, but the more I talked to her the more I realized that she was very down to earth and comfortable with herself. I know what you mean. I think when many people see me they think I am the "dumb blonde" type... but i am totally not like that! I think we all do that because when we first meet someone how else are we going to get an opinion of them? it is human nature... I mean the opinions may be wrong, but that is just the way it is... I do think people need to look beyond looks more... people ar so shallow now days...  |

We take too much advantage of our vision. I think that most of what your talking about, is sexually related. We are all sexual creatures, seeking out our instincts, and coupling this with intense emotions, creates gaps in understanding. Judging by looks is more on our animalistic way of saying, "you'd make good babies for me" or "you would be a good hunting mate!"
