The Grave

I will relate to you something that happened a few years ago.

I grew up in the wilds of Washington state, with tales abounding of Sasquatch, Native American phenomena and the like. My mother is and was open minded, and I was taught to be so. For years I knew there was something different about me. I would see things, sometimes in detail...things from the past and sometimes things from the future. But very rarely were my experiences as concrete as this one.

I was traveling with a companion down a narrow road near Liberty, Washington. The road parralelled a river, making the rough road serpentine. The drive was lovely, the day unusually warm. I was a passenger, and took advantage of that fact. I enjoyed the scenery, the warm air, and the sweet smells of Spring.

I suddenly had a flash of what lay ahead. I turned to my companion, telling him,"Ahead...on the right of the road...there will be a grave. It will have a white cross on it and will lie in front of a large tree...and there will be a white fence around it."

He just blinked at me, that blink speaking volumes. He though I was mad, and I immediately regretted telling him what I had 'seen'. We drove on in silence, with me staring out the window and cursing myself for not remaining silent. I heard a small sound from him and glanced in his direction. His eyes has grown large, and I turned my head to the direction he was looking. In the distance, I saw a small white fence.

He slowed the vehicle as we approached, and we both got out. The tree was there, an elderly fir. The fence was well kept and had recently been painted. Written on the cross was the name 'Pat'...and the inscription 'He was kilt'.

All the details I had relayed to my companion were there. He eyed me suspiciously. "You've been here before?" And my reply, "No. Never."

And we drove off.

I offer no explanation. I simply offer one of many experiences I've had. Sometimes I see things...and sometimes...I'm right.

It was one of the experiences that led me to begin trusting myself, and things I see.
