Be Not Afraid

My father, Gene Scott, passed away on July 4, 1995 in New Jersey. Two days after my father died, we were going from the funeral home, when the hymn, 'Be Not Afraid' came into my head while I was sitting in my sister's car waiting for the hearse to take my dad from the funeral home to the Church where we were going to have a mass for dad's brothers and sisters because we, my sister and I, were taking him back to Kentucky to be buried. I was always very close to my dad and his death was very hard for me. When I heard that hymn in my head, I really didn't think anything of it except to try and concentrate on it to make my pain subside a bit. Then, when we got to the church, the organist was playing and the vocalist was singing 'Be Not Afraid.' I knew then that my dad was ok and he was in Heaven with my mom. It was his way of telling me he was all right.

How it changed my life:

It helped ease the pain of losing my father.
