In 1980 in San Jose California a friend of mine was admitted into an alcohol rehab center. We had gone to California together and I had gotten married. I learned he was in the center and went to see him. He wanted to go back home to Iola Ks, but had to finish out his program. My marraige was short lived and I left for Colorado, leaving Kermit behind. Once in Colorado I tried to get intouch with him but he was nolonger in the center. Contacts with his only known relatives, his brother in Hoppkinsville Ky went without answer. A telephone conversation with his oldest brother ended with him yelling saying that they don't know where he is and that they didn't care. One brother, his youngest is Nicholas Walker who was last known to live in Hopkinsville Ky. Kermit Walker would now be around thrity seven years old and may be homeless. He was raised in and around Bronson Kansas in the seventies. His mother is said to have moved to Idaho and is probably dead. Kermit considered my parents his own and used to call my mother frequently until his stay in California when all calls stopped. Anyone who knows of Kermit Walker, his brother Nicholas or his family please write me at T. Hansen 108 South Washington, Iola, Ks. 66749. How it changed my life:Somehow I feel responsible by leaving him in California. He was a small town farmboy who would have had a hard time surviving in the city. I have worried about him for eighteen years. Now living in the area where he grew up I think about him daily. I am re-married and would like him to meet my wife and kids and if he was abandoned by his family I would like to share mine.
