You know what I think went wrong? The government took our right to parent away. We aren't allowed to parent and try and teach our children right from wrong and teach them remorse. whirlwn53 |

I think it has more to do with a lack of listening and communicating. We have become such a fast paced society that it seems we don't have time to actually listen to our children and what is going on in their lives, showing them that we truly care and love them. There a lot of frustrated and angry children out there and I think this is just a way of finally taking out that frustration. -Lady Nyx |

I think the deterioration of society has to do with the lack of open mindedness. Think about it. If we all accepted people as they were and didn't FORCE changes upon them, like those persistant Christians, then why would we have to kill each other? |

i don't believe that today the morals are the same as they used to be. i went to a class on guns the other day, and the police officer had a good suggestion, to educate kids on guns, so they won't be curious, and it might cut down on the problems with the guns. i agree with him on that. Leana5 |

i think it is because we all went to work and made our careers more important than our families. the television raised this generation, strangers in nurseries raised our babies, school systems raised our children. no wonder they seem so lost and alone. also why are so many on psychoactive drugs? quick fix! everything is a quick fix. guns are a quick fix. meru |

In the society we live in today, children are taught not to tolerate anything that is different. Black, White, Gay, Straight, Jock or Geek. Whatever you are, if you are different then it is not tolerated. Adults have been discussing the idea of having toleration classes for children in these schools. This way we don't have another Columbine. |

Haven't you heard? Anything goes. There is no God, hence no right or wrong. Do your own thing, whatever it is. Worship anything but that CHRISTIAN God. Homosexuality is o.k. The planet is dying. We're all gonna be nuked. You're suffering from ADD. Here's some drugs for you. Don't do drugs. Don't have sex. Sex is everywhere and everyone is doing it. The preceeding are messages our children are bombarded with on a daily basis and you expect them to behave normally? Teach them about God's Laws, like in the olden days of safe schools and happy kids. Free Girl |

All the replies are so true,I would agree with all the above,All the music, and violence on the screen, like whirlwind says you can't parent anymore...god forbid! There are bullys in our schools that seem to get away with it with not even a slap on the wrist,Parents, teachers , and other children are afraid of them, and won't do a thing about it anymore.People just don't want to get involved anymore! They would watch and run the other way to save themselves other than to help save another. (Not all but most)I hate the statement(But they are just children doing what children do) They have problems, I beleive if more would get involved more would be saved, people tend to think more of themselves these days.Because of society,CPS, and I am not saying thats a bad thing by any means! But now a days those 3 letters are totally taboo. In parenting I could go on for hours but won't. Yes, I believe that there is too much interference by social workers/stupid laws that won't allow parents to parent. If you're in a store with your kid and he starts to throw a temper tantrum about something, you're no longer allowed to whack him on the butt to straighten him out without some nosy idiot getting involved. Parents are scared to parent, pure and simple. While I will admit that child abuse does exist, I hope that it happens seldom. Do-gooders who want to pry into others' business need to learn that there is a difference between punishment and child abuse. The former occurs only when necessary in reaction to a transgression on the part of the child, the latter is a ritual thing done frequently for no reason at all. A slap on the butt never killed anyone, but has the power to enforce a boundary that the child has stepped over. Parents must start enforcing their right to parent without interference. A friend of mine had this kind of problem once. He was at work, and his wife and son were at home, out in his front yard. She told the son not to go near the road (he was four), and he laughed at her and took off toward it. She grabbed him, and gave him a whack on the butt. She must have been seen, because within fifteen minutes, a cop car and a social worker showed up. My friend arrived home to find his wife on the verge of tears, arguing with both of them. He asked what was going on, and got the stories from both sides. He looked at the cop and the social worker and told them, "Okay, here's what we're going to do. You're making serious allegations of child abuse here, so let's get it confirmed if it does exist. We'll take the kid to a doctor to be examined. If, in the doctor's opintion there is child abuse, you can take the kid, but if the doctor disagrees, you better have a lawyer on retainer, because I'll sue." Confronted with this, both the cop and the social worker left. Parents NEED to take back their right to parent...<glock> |

glock, I have experienced what you are talking about, but there are many parents who have not been able to have their "day in court" so to speak, who are innocent and have lost their children. It is a system ripe with corruption, as there are no constitutional rights to a jury of your peers, unless you have committed a criminal act, such as assault and the like. Most detentions do not involve criminal charges. Many times you are overpowered by the buracrats who are running the system, and there is simply no way to conform and you lose your children on a matter of false allegations and fraudulent claims. There are many cases like this, and little advocacy for protection for these families. Some of them don't go away. They come in full force and destroy healthy families. Free Girl |
