Here's an interesing question. It comes up a lot with me and my friends. we sit and talk about for hours on end. debating which one is better. here's the question. If for one week you had to be deaf or blind, which would you be? For me it's easy. I'd be deaf without a doubt. Because I love to read, and when you're blind you can't see so therefor you can't read. That's out of the question for me. and Also i love to write. Now you very well can't write without being to see either. Plus there's alway sign language. So that's my choice. How bout you?

Date: 4/27/2001 9:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 7341    Well...my best friend is deaf...and I knew her for nearly a year before I even found out. She can hear about 50% when she has her hearing aids in...and she can read lips..which I still think is amazing!! lol...she lives a very normal life....so I guess I'd say if I had to choose..I'd be deaf....
Date: 4/27/2001 9:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 34706    I am 100% deaf in my left ear and 75% in my right...

Date: 4/27/2001 10:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 16815    I would rather be deaf as I am 'fluent' (lol)in sign language. However, blind people can still 'read'. It's called brail, and it's not too hard to learn that either. And also, blind people can write, mostly best if with a typewrtier or computer though, as most keyboards have the bumps on the "F" and "J" keys to help guide a person typing.
Date: 4/27/2001 10:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 34625    Definitely deaf. I rely so much on sight, and being blind is harder than being deaf (not that being deaf is easy!) because there are more things to rely on if you're deaf, like you said, sign language etc. I also love drawring and computering... no eyesight means all my favourite hobbies are gone ;_;

Date: 4/28/2001 9:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 24732    I would rather be deaf becaus I know some sign language, and when you are just deaf you can still read, watch tv, drive, and I like drawing and I couldn't do that if I were blind. Although if you are blind you can have one of those seeing eye dogs.

Date: 4/28/2001 9:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 20677    Definitly deaf. The only problem is no music..that would be hard for me. But i much rather be able to see. I think i'd go crazy if i lost my eye sight!
Date: 4/28/2001 9:48:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 12216    looks like most of you went with deaf 2. yeah Casper Chic I agree with you. Music is one problem that comes with being deaf. But we can get by. Right!
Date: 4/28/2001 10:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 16845    for a week? Blind, This wouldn't really be anything new for me, being that I am by far legally blind without my glasses/contacts. I guess I'm the odd ball around here. But I was 'blind' for about a week after I had eye surgery and my eyes got infected, my dog although he isn't trained in being a guide dog, is very good at guiding me around, as he was my eyes for a week.....
Date: 4/28/2001 10:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 16845    ^^^ due to the bandages and medication I was on during that week, sorry should have clarified.
Date: 4/28/2001 2:28:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 12216    aw. that's ok Becky. We're all odd in our own way. look me. i like michael jackson...need i say more. lol. but anyways. if it weren't for the fact that i loved reading, i would choose blind as well.
Date: 4/28/2001 2:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 29526    deaf,defenitle!i kinda no what it is like 2 be blind w/out my glasses or contax it is vert=y haed & i no a little about reading lipe im pretty god @ it.moon angel
Date: 8/7/2001 11:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 35160    i would want 2 be deaf,
Date: 11/2/2004 12:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 26363    Deaf! An entire week of not hearing my ex's voice, or the kids screaming and banging about, oh bliss! I'm like you, I've gotta be able to read, I would die without my books!
Date: 11/2/2004 1:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 62476    I'd pick deaf also. Vision is more important than hearing. you can learn sign language or just read whats wrote. With blindness nothing of that sort helps
