Why does someone choose to be Catholic or Buddhist, or any religion?! I think tho there are some who join because of trend or sterotype, there are thoes who truthfully believe and find it offers fufillment in their lives. I'm an ecclectic wiccian for lack of a better term. Meaning that my whole believe is made up of various philisophys and beliefs but the main focus is the old religion. I found my way here by studing other faiths in search for not only answers but enlightenment. Since I have fully proclamed myself to my faith I have found true happiness and fufillment. I believe in it 100% and find comfort in its teachings. I don't think you can have as strong a faith if you disagree with things in your faith. Anyway, thats just my answer. |

We choose wicca because that is the path we want to follow. For some it is christianity, or judaism or even buddah. For us it is wicca! |

The same reason that many people choose Christianity. Because it is our path and we truly believe in this religion. |

I belive in it, and it just feel right. I have tried many religions, and Wiccan is the only one that feels right. Well why do people choose any other religons? Same reasons pretty much. Thanx for posting! Luv, |

Hmmm...I chose the Catholic faith- and we believe life is beautiful as well. See every religion is very very similar the only difference is this- In the Catholic religion you must have faith and courage you must bear life without getting your every satisfaction met when you want it- on the other hand other religions focus on the present rather then eternity. Im sorry if that was taken the wrong way, it was not meant to hurt anyones feelings after all, i love all you guys here at usm, so please dont take this the wrong way. -Cheryl |

hmm, princess of light, other religions are very focused on eternity as well... I can't see any difference in the amount of now vs then philosophising in catholisism and buddhism or hindu or sikhism... |

Wicca just suits me. I was raised a Christian, but we never went to Chruch and i didnt really believe in Christ. When i learned about Wicca, my heart just filled with joy and love, and i knew it was for me. I do rituals for the goddess. And i think thats what they meant when they said "she chose me", meaning the goddess chose them to be their servent. ~Rane~ |

POL- I don't know much about Wicca but in your post you said 'other religions', and all the religions I've studied so far are all very afterlife-eternity geared. That's what I meant ~Nekomimi |

The Goddess had shown her light on me, almost telling me this is where I belong. I had an experience where I knew she was there. Something like how the christians say God talks to them or show them that it is what is right. Has any other wiccans or pagans had an experience like that? |

I chose wicca for the freeness of my belief. My rule is "to do what thou will, lest I harm none" I have never felt comfortable with organized religions ie Christianity etc.
Religions are pretty much the same thing when you get down to the basics, but I have and always have had trouble with original sin, anwering to rules which I have always felt uncomfortable with and I find some western religions to be too male orientated for me (though I do know things are changing)
To be truthful I have always known and felt that I was different in my views of the world at large......wicca makes me comfortable, I am happy, I help others, I try my best to heal the planet and I have compassion for all living things but especially myself.......this is wicca to me. Lilith
Each to his own, be tolerant of others for what you put out is what you get back |

Im Wiccan and I chose it because I beleive in it much more than I belive anything in the bible.
But then again, WHY do people really choose any religion? How do we know what we choose is really right or really true?
You don't know, thats why. You just need to fill in that empty space, to try to make up for not knowing how the Universe was made or why we are really here.
That is just what I think though, many people might have different views. |
