The earth's scorched belly lays wounded Beneath the rusted black horsemen of yesterday There was a time when black crude gushed pounding Its way through miles of pipeline that gave way
Now only silence hovers the land like a whisper never reaching the ear and dirt covers its chest To hush the movements the iron horse jesture And rumblings of raging gushers put to rest
They can not awake and forge fire's fear For all is given and only empty memories remain But proud they stand afar and near And quietly they left as loudly they came.
