Yo Kitt,
Well...Traffic Enforcement Agencies have always bleated on about how hidden speed cameras AREN'T revenue gathering devices...I think the jury is still out on that one. Most people do react when they see a speed trap, like a cop on the side of the road doing speed checks with a Hawk Radar Unit or Lazer...so I feel that hiding them kinda defeats the effect that the visible presence of the Law has. I speed...I'll admit it...I love speed. Nothing seems to unwind me more than heading out onto some long open roads in the middle of nowhere and just dropping the hammer until the speedo starts sneaking back around the clock again. Have always been that way...I think the fastest I remember going on a motorcycle was over 270kph...which is about over 160mph in the USA. In a car I honestly don't know...my speedo only goes to 180kph and I'm off that in 4th gear with another gear and a bottle of nitrous yet to hit...but probably in the vicinity of 250kph (or 150mph) deep in the redline. But in saying that...I don't have a problem getting ticketed. I know that if I speed its because I choose to speed...I know the risks with it, it not only increases the probability I'll crash and die - or worse yet take someone else with me...but I also know that chances are one day I'm gonna get busted and ticketted...probably also lose my license...so I'm not gonna moan about "Oh evil Police and their hidden speed traps"...coz thats just par for the course. Peace, |

They're there to save you. How would you like it if someone sped all the time, but the safeguards were not in effect to stop that person from speeding, and one day he or she actually harmed someone? That's how I always think of it. |

I had nooo idea they did that! LOL.. I WOULD go the speed limit, but if I don't speed at least some, I get people right on my butt wanting me to go faster. I'm so tempted to just slam on the breaks so they can get in trouble for following too closely and rear-ending me... LOL |

Yo Kitt,
Crazy speeds? Probably...though I have been in a total of 3 car accidents...only one was my fault, and I wasn't actually speeding at the time...I was distracted looking down at my stereo and misjudged a corner. I guess its just plan luck I haven't been in any more crashes than that...but maybe luck can run out. I ain't saying I speed all the time wherever I go...far from it...I only speed at night, in remote areas that I know well and that don't have any people living in them, let alone driving there at all much. I am also a well trained driver, having won trophies in rally driving and various club racing events...and my car is basically a race car for the road...so its not like I'm an unskilled driver in a heapy car. Still, I take your point. Peace, |

I geuss I don't have a problem with it. I go the speed limit because its the law - I can't afford to be paying large fines for tickets, so I just follow the limits. I also don't want to jepordize my life or someone elses. Many people are scared to death of flying- but if you look at the statistics - far more people are killed in cars than airplanes. You should be more scared to be driving on the road- and more cautious.
Just last week in my town a man was speeding very fast on his motercycle when a car pulled out in front of him. He crashed into it, injuring the car driver- and decapitating himself in the process. No thanks- not for me! |

I got caught speeding on photo radar once. I was out on a country highway at night, almost complete darkness, as a came around a curb BAM I got hit with a white flash, I was blinded temporarily. It took me a while to get my vision back but I immediately realized this blinding light could have caused me to have a wreck. That's just not right!. |
