The blocked mail goes directly in your deleted items box. You would actually be able to see if any of the new mail was from blocked senders. I'm not sure why your count is off if that's not the case.  |

Becky, when you clicked on the inbox, you might have clicked on one of the new messages and have marked it old. There is an option that marks as message as being read after you leave it highlighted for so long. The program marks it as being read. New messages are only those left un-open. Dave  |

No Dave, I haven't clicked into the inbox, In the lower left hand courner after the 'recieving' mail has come in it says 'number of email' then if you look at the inbox it will say 'inbox (so many emails) what I get frequently is in the courner 8 new email and then the inbox will say 'inbox (7)'  |

yes Becky, but what you are clicking (the enevelope in the left hand corner) automatically highlights a new message, and your option is probably set, once it is highlighted mark as read. |

lol ok, I'm not clicking ANYTHING when the envelope signals that it's done recieving I click on my outlook express bar on the bottom of the screen I DON'T click on anything I merely read the '8 new' in the right courner and then 'inbox (7) on the top left of the screen....I haven't clicked on a thing and I haven't gone to the inbox.... |

That would mean 2 junk mail + 7 inbox + 9 messages
sometimes Outlook sorts your mail,if it is a blocked message will go to your delete folder |

the number in the righ-hand corner doesn't refresh. The inbox tells you how many "unread" messages you haev left. Dave |

LOL ok, I gotcha, so when the right hand courner states more than in the right it's because it was a blocked mail that I recieved and if I want to retrieve it it's in the deleted folder, aha! gotcha, thanks guys, it was reallllly going to drive me insane if I didn't figure it out. |

OMG!! the exact same thing happens to me!!! but i think its because i filter my mail and get rid of all the forwards...SO ANYONE WHO SENDS ME FORWARDS WHO READS THIS STOP DOING IT KAY???? hehehehehee! because i wont read it...:):) i hope you fix the problem!!  |
