I recently learned of another place to find a pet, in particular, dogs. We all know about the Humane Society, and other shelters in your city like it, and this is a great place to start, but some of you may turn away from a shelter to find a purebreed. Please, first go to these sites, and you may find a purebreed rescue shelter near your home.

These dogs have been rescued from shelters, bad situations, etc.
If you have a particular breed in mind, you can also type in the breeds name and 'rescue programs' with it in the search bar...for example.... "weimaraner rescue programs"...or "Texas (your state) pet rescue programs".
I have only learned of these programs, and I thought I would spread the word so that others like me would have another choice, and these dogs could find a home, too.
I am assuming that there are cat programs like this, too. I have found one site in California that had both dogs and cats, so with a little searching, you could find a pet in need of YOU.
Please consider this. It is no more difficult than driving from shelter to shelter, and home to home to look at potential pets...and these sites have photos, too.
A little searching on this subject will turn up a goldmine of organizations and information!
