I sat straight in my pink lacey stool-chair and looked into my vanity mirror. There I was. Emotionless.. a "what you see is what you get" type of girl. My skin was fair and flawless. My hair was long, thick, light blond, and curled softly at the ends. My eyes, wide and blue, looked like the glass eyes of a porcelain doll. My body was small and thin, bruiseless, scratchless, perfect.
I stared into the cruel mirror, wondering why I was chosen to be the star of the horrific experiment to create the perfect little girl. Two lovely young models were chosen to parent me. Of course, they were just a part of the plan and the scientists for the experiment (who were a couple) adopted me after I was born.
Still I glared into the mirror. My hair was out of place. I would have brushed it if I was allowed to. But, I had professionals do all of my grooming. I had no friends. I didn't go to school. I was homeschooled, because my "parents" didn't want me to be misinformed on anything. I was supposed to be perfect, which meant intelligent as well. I wasn't allowed to play sports. I wasn't allowed to eat sweets or junk food. I wasn't allowed to watch movies. I wasn't allowed to do nearly anything.
What were these scientists trying to prove? A perfect girl would not help find the cure for AIDS or cancer. It wouldn't help find a new mathematical theory. Of course I didn't realize this at the time. I opened the drawer of my vanity, but pinched my finger in the process. Horrified, tears came to the corners of my eyes, but I quickly grabbed a tissue and blotted them away. Crying would make my eyes puffy and my face red. Perfection definently isn't a red face.
I slowly arose from my chair, carefully making sure that I was standing perfectly straight. My pink nightgown slinked down. I gazed around my room. Pink everywhere. A 16 year old girl and my room was pink. I opened the door and walked down the steps for assistance with the tiny pinch on my finger.
