No, there are no innocent victims in this--everyone was on the take--the Bakker's and Hahn. To try to put some kind of positive spin on this case is stupid. Bakker wasn't a preacher, he was just a good enough actor to get lonely gullible people to send money in, the majority of which went into his pocket. His hideous wife (who must have gone to the Bozo the Clown School of Cosmetology and Make-up Design) would have been enough to turn Bakker's stomach, hence the affair. As it turns out, she was even enough to turn him queer, as ol' Jim apparently did some of this also while in jail. The great thing about the PTL fiasco is that it allowed me to laugh at quite a few people who swore to me that he was a good and righteous man. Of course, when the whole thing blew up, who swoops in like a vulture but Jerry Falwell, who would later get caught with his hand in the cookie jar also. One thing I'll say about Bakker, though...he had a little better taste in floozies than Falwell did, but not MUCH better. Of course, when Falwell got caught he went on TV, cried, said "I have sinned against you, O Lord", and now the gullibles are still sending this a**hole money...what a bunch of idiots. And people ask me why I'd like to see TV evangelists lined up and shot? <glock>  |

It wasn't Falwell who got caught doing the nasty with a prostitute, it was Jimmy Swaggart. He asked for forgiveness in a tearful,televised confession, and i think he still has a profitable ministry in Louisiana. |

Ah, you're right; I stand corrected, it was Swaggert. Hey, I can't help it, they're so interchangeable, anyway. They all fleece those that don't know any differently and can't afford to be fleeced in the first place. I read a story about an elderly lady who didn't have any money to send one of these clowns, so she sold all of her jewellery. You can't buy your way into heaven, no matter which of these idiots is making out that you can. Most of them have been exposed as liars, cheats, and hypocrites. As to Billy Graham, I have nothing against him, although he does tend to live kind of highly on the donations that are sent in...<glock> |

Kinda makes you want to turn against God, huh? But that's the intent. These kinds of "Christians" give the rest of us a bad name, and should always be exposed. This church (Assemblies of God) promotes talking in tongues, gold dusting of people's bodies, gold teeth miraculously popping up in people's mouths, healings and the lastest, angel feathers falling from the ceiling.
