Lizzy Borden took an axe...or did she?

The Borden murder case is very famous. WE all know the rhyme. "Lizzy Borden took an axe. She gave her father 40 whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her mother 41." But Lizzy didn't do it! Police inspected the knife but found no fingerprints on it. Lizzy won out in the courtroom. So who vicously killed Andrew Borden and his wife? Was it Lizzy's boyfriend, the heir to the Swift meatpacking fortune? Could it have been Andrew's illegitimate son,Barry Borden who was crazy and smelled (mixed horse urine and salt to keep flies away) like you wouldn't believe? Was it Bridget, the eccentric maid? Was it Lizzy herself, who had been trying to buy arsenic? Was it Andrew Borden's brother, whose alibi was eerily specific? (Who remembers a trolley car operator's badge number?) Or was it someone else? All of Fall River hated the Bordens. When they learned that Borden was dead,a local said, "So someone finally got the old b******" Also, many hatchets, axes and meat cleavers hve been found in the walls of the Borden House. The house is now a B&B,that is supposedly haunted. I will post data on the hauntings soon. That is all I know on the Borden case. Any info is appreciated.

How it changed my life:

It didn't. I really hate these "how it changed your life" boxes. :)

Date: 7/27/2001 8:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 12823    It was so obviously Lizzie! Historians even said the reaso why she got away with it was because at that time, women were thought too be frail and timid to commit such an act. It is noted that even the people that aquitted her were the same ones who didnt allow her to their social gatherings because they were afraid of what she had done. Why did she try to destroy the ax? Why did she burn the dress she was wearing at the time of the murders? Why did she try to lie about her alibi? Nothing adds up. No, I think she did it. However, she is long dead now- facing judgement.

Date: 8/29/2001 12:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 38119    No, it's Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother 40 whacks, when she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41.
Date: 9/10/2001 1:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 8726    thanks for the post it could have been many of ppl that could have done it.
Date: 9/10/2001 8:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 36901    I read a book about it a few years ago. I totally believe the theory in the book. It wasn't Lizzie.
Date: 9/13/2001 1:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 33531    On an investigating show, they said Lizzy and the maid were doing something extremely unexceptible in the 1800's in the bedroom."not lieing" The Mother saw and got mad so Lizzy Killed her and destroyed most of the evidence. Another therory is that I think was a brother, cousin, or uncle killed them when Lizzy was getting something in the shed. This guy was just crazy. He took the axe everywhere with him. He was hired as a farmhand somewhere and when the boy was working mext to him, the man took the axe out and was talking to it saying" What do you mean?, I was there when we killed them". The boy who heard this is still alive today. There are so many therorys to this that don't think we will find the answer. Bone Doggy 0011.
Date: 9/29/2001 6:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 43371    Good post! i go to college in the Fall River area and they have law courses you can take that focus mostly on this case. I have heard for years that she did not commit the crime. Although this case is "solved" they may have actually gone after the wrong person
Date: 10/14/2001 10:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 45318    I read a book a few years ago that suggested Lizzie had committed the crime while suffering from PMS (I am not joking) and possibly during an epileptic seizure. Despite all the other theories I still believe she did commit the murders.
Date: 10/29/2001 4:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 21348    We have read that book "Lizzie Borden" and actually Ms. Borden was suppose to have killed her Step-Mother first, and then her Father. And also if you don`t fill out the How it changed your life box...don`t fill it out. Your post will not be affected by it.
Date: 12/14/2001 10:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 43815    ok i don't know why but i always thought she did it because i've never found any evidence to say she didnt'...She could have wiped off her fingerprints and the courts back then were quite different than they are now. The didt'n think that weman could do anythign like that. But i could change my mind if had differnt truths.. but the axes in the walls thats crazy!! maybe someone was hiding them there to use them later... -lei-
