Sadly...I have to admit that I DO tend to consider myself better than others. Not because of money..or gender or social status. More often because of maturity or intelligence..I hate that quality in myself...and I never really SHOW that I feel that way..but I have to be honest and recognize the fact that it is there. I tend to look down on people who choose to do things differently than I would do them...whose morals don't quite fit in with mine. It all depends on what you are asking me. Am I better at what, sports, my job, being a parent, because there are just somethings some people can do better than others. However in life the only thing we are equal at or should be is that we just get the chance to be better at somethings. |

I do not consider myself better than others. Infact, I feel good knowing that deep down everyone's equal in certain ways. HOWEVER, I do feel better than druggies....Once someone slips you something into your drink and almost ruins your life, you wanna be better than them. I haven't any sympathy for any of them anymore...I am sorry but I am better than that. I don't care if it sounds conceided, I can't stand it when people do drugs. :)  |

Okay, I'm not talking about behavior. Or sports. I am talking about basic humanity. About, okay an example. Today I went to the court house in my county to get a criminal background check so I could apply for a job. The deputy I asked in the sheriff's office rolled her eyes at me and sighed, her body language was like, you are so stupid, and jerked her arm upward, and said that you got that at the clerk of courts. I went in smiling, I got this in reply basically because she wore a badge and thought she was better than me. Her behavior stemmed from that. It's like seeing a homeless person in the street and sneering at them because you are in a position greater to that person. I'm asking that if you had a job that was high up, say a deputy's job, and someone asked you a question, would you consider yourself better than that person because of the job you hold and that person doesn't hold that job? It applies to all things in life. Basically I'm talking about letting your behavior to another stem from your position in life.  |

hey monkeyluvr, what u said about the deputy, on jobs, well yes for some its the money. like the deputy well his/hers is power-they know they can have power over u. but to me I think of police as interogators. they dont protect the innocent anymore. ok well that was just an example. but as far as people in general-yes i have seen people act that way expecially those who own very big expensive homes which they cant afford to furnish because they are so into looks and not their family or furnishings. I can say this-I may not be rich but I have my family, a nice house, etc and I am not divorced (like most rich of ignorance) I do not beat my kids (like most of ignorance). believe when I say that the rich folks have more marital, family and child problems than you or I. I worked for a police dept. that dispatched for a very wealthy neighborhood and they always had problems with their kids, (very suicidal), the parents divorcing, abuse, drugs, you name it they had it. oh yes indeed they had it all!!!! deep down though I do things others can not-but I do not put them down for that.. freespirit  |

I had this conversation with my husband just the other day when I received the upturned nose from an old acquaintance (friend of my ex hubs). What it all boils down to is that if we were all stripped of our material gain, wealth, clothing, cars, etc...we are no different. We may have different personalities and levels of intelligence but how does that make one any better than the other? I saw an Alfred Hitchcock show once and during the entire program you see this person whose face is wrapped in gauze. You have all these strange looking creatures who begin to perform an operation on the person but you never see the person's face. When they come out of surgery their face is in gauze again and the creatures begin to unwrap this person's face. It is a beautiful woman. All the creatures are sad and they hand her a mirror and she begins to cry. She was having the surgery so that she would look like them and it failed. Among these freakish creatures she was considered ugly. I really don't know exactly what my point was in telling all of that but I guess it was something along the lines of some things just don't matter. In His eyes we are all equal... That's what I truly feel. We may have different talents, different things that we are good at, but it all equals into being equal to each other. Compare and apple and a pear. Take a red apple and a green pear. An apple is roundish and red, and a pear is more of a well, pear shape, and can be green in color. They are different, have different tastes, they may weigh more than one or the other, but are they still not fruits?????? Both are different from the other, but they equal out. Scorn my opinion if you want, I will not think that someone is better than me or that I am better than another. |

They can lose their equality in my eyes by doing horrible things. Things like what I mentioned above. But, that's just losing their equality 'as a person'.
