Jurassic Park 3

Warning: slight spoilers.

As promised, here's my review for the third movie in this series, Jurassic Park 3.

OK, now first off, due to a long chain of events, we ended up waiting in the theater for 90 minutes until the movie began. I was thinking, "This movie had better be good" the entire time I waited. Oh, and the Harkins Theater we were in had 216 seats, over 50 lights on the stairs, and 30 stairs. Hey, there's not much else to do but count when you've been waiting for an hour and a half.

Anyway, it eventually started and I was immediately...unimpressed. The footage in the opening, of a young boy and a man hang gliding, was obviously CGI'd. But I still held out hopes, and I was definitely not disappointed.

The plot was completely different from the first two. It has nothing to do with new dinos being created on a new island; it all takes place at Site B, where dinosaurs are roaming free in a restricted area. Alan Grant, the paleontologist of the first movie, makes a reappearance, but I *think* he's the only recurring character. The others are his assistant, a divorced couple, and the couple's son.

The dinosaurs are amazing, especially the pterodactyls! I absolutely loved seeing them since we hadn't seen any more than a few brief shots before. It was imaginative and interesting.

I think it was most definitely better than The Lost World, but still not quite on par with the original JP. It was very, very close, though. My rating: **** out of *****. An awesome, awesome movie.
