My mom left my dad, when I was just a kid
He was an alcoholic and abuse her, he did.
She married my step-dad, when I was just seven.
We thought he was good, and she was in heaven.
He started the abuse, when I was just eight,
when my mother found out, it was years too late.
I never knew what he did was bad,
all I ever wanted was the love of my dad.
He finally left us, I was almost thirteen
but the damage he's done, had yet to be seen.
When my mother found out, she was shattered
she lost all faith and nothing else mattered.
She ended up getting on with her life,
and he got himself a sixteen year old wife.
I guess he just liked them young,
if we'd only known before the damage was done.
Now that I'm older and have my own life,
the pain that he caused effects me as a wife.
I've tried to live as best that I can,
forgetting the pain caused by this man.
All I want now, is to end up okay
and have my life seem normal someday.
Free from the hurt and the pain, not numb,
able to cope with the damage he's done.
