Hello everyone. My topic is teen pregnancy...i was just all wondering what u thought of it...and if there is any teen mom's on here...In my school last year, we had these babies that we had to take care of, and they cried every 4 hours or so...and u had to hold the key in...it taught a lot of us girls not to have sex at such a young age or this will happen. Sure u can have safe sex...but there is still that chance of the girl getting pregnant. I have thought about this many times...wondering if i should have sex...or not...b/c of this consequence. That's one of my main reasons not to. I woudln't want a child to ruin my future life...it would be a scary thing, being only 15-and pregnant. Well, i just wanted to know what all of your thoughts were.:) thanks-Lady Marmalade

Date: 8/23/2001 8:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 18516    I know a few young girls who have had sex at an early age and one did get pregnant. It is scary to think about having a child at such a young age. If any young teen thinks about having sex then they better think about the consequences first..Pregnancy..STD's..and Aids. Just thinking about contracting and STD or taking care of a child so young scares me.
Date: 8/23/2001 8:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 30996    I think that you are making a very wise decision.
There are alot of things to think about besides that too, like deseases, and what not.

Date: 8/23/2001 8:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 34912    I know that most of you will disagree with me, but I think this is an issue of values and there's a bigger picture. I think that sex should wait until marriage. Very few people think about marriage while they are in HS, but they are more than willing to make an emotional and physical bond with someone that should be saved for one special person only. Usually people don't marry until they feel they are pretty well established in their lives in some way. When there is that type of commitment in a marriage, having a child is not seem so much of a problem. When sex is taken as something so frivolous, there are consequnces and the possibility of having an un-expected child is one of them. I say it's better to wait...

Date: 8/23/2001 8:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 7654    Teen Pregnancy, Let me say that there is no other gift as precious as a baby. But call me old fashion, because I truly think that as a teen you have so much ahead of you .Enjoy this time in your life .Being a parent ends all the weekend parties, dates, and it does tie you down. Now don't get me wrong here. I have known some teens that did have a baby, and they were great moms. But, then too they had regrets, not about the baby but about their dreams that they had had.I think you should enjoy your life as a teen and early adulthood before a baby is brought into your life. There are just so many opportunties out there in our word today for the young people.
Date: 8/23/2001 9:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 31368    I got pregnant with my first daughter at 18, and I'm lucky that I at least graduated high school before this happened. I watched as my friends went to college, went partying with friends, doing pretty much what they wanted because they were kids and they got to be kids. I had to grow up. While my friends were out doing this, I was working a full time job, sometimes 60 hours a week, paying a babysitter, changing diapers, getting up three times a night to feed a baby, and at the end of the week I had no money to go out even if I could afford to pay a babysitter for a little recreational time. Don't get me wrong I love my daughter and in the end my life turned out ok but I long for my missed childhood. I never got to experience being a young adult having fun not having to answer to anyone. I could have made so much more of my life but I didn't have the time or the money. I'll never be able to be the carefree person I could have looked back on fondly. I went straight from answering to my mother to being the mother. I never had a life just to enjoy. I know to a young girl it may not seem like such a big deal but in ten years you will look back and wish you'd listened to those that told you how hard it was. You can't imagine what you would be giving up. Good for you for being mature enough to realize how hard it would be and not giving in to it. I also want to add that I was on the pill when I got pregnant so there is always a chance. ***Shelly***
Date: 8/23/2001 9:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 3538    In my highschool,my senior year, there were quite a few girls who were pregnat and did not graduate on time with the rest of there class. One girl that was pregnat, used to be a close friend of mine, but in highschool,we made new friends.I still can't believe to this day, that she has a baby.
Date: 8/23/2001 9:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 3538    I forgot to say even the head cheerleader of our school got pregnat and she was no longer the head cheerleader.I remember she was always smiling at everyone and was very outgoing and laughed a lot.I noticed once she got pregnat, her smile faded and she was no longer laughing anymore and she was tired all the time.
Date: 8/23/2001 9:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 33632    Well, I think you have made a wise choice. If teens are going to have sex they need to protect themselves. Ladies need to get on birth control and the guys need to wear protection. I don't critize teen mothers. They already feel scared and bad enough, I don't need to add to it. It's thier choice if they are going to go through with the pregnancy or not and if they are going to keep the baby or not. I don't agree with abortion, but there are times it is needed. I don't think it should be used as birth control. If a girl or woman for that matter go through an abortion they will tell you it is the most horrible day of thier lives. I have talked to women who have had them and they all have told me it was horrible. I have know one woman (who makes me sick) that had 5 of them in one year. I have gotten off the subject, but I think teen girls should be careful(along with the guys).
Date: 8/23/2001 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    I want to have a baby before I am an 'adult' because I don't want to be old when my child is a teenager. But, I know that sounds immature and my mind will most likely change when that time comes!
Date: 8/24/2001 8:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 19220    I was a teen mom. I got pregnant at 17 giving birth 3 weeks after my 18th birthday. She didn't ruin my life but made it better in some ways. I don't think that its a smart idea to go out and say "Humm I think I'll get pregnant today". I would like my children to wait till they are married until they have sex. I had to grow up real fast. I didn't finish HS *stupid on my part* and didn't go to college. There are many teen mom who do though. My sis in law is one of them. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't change anything about having her maybe just the things that were happening at that time. I do think its a wise choice to wait and like I said before I would like my children to wait.
Date: 8/24/2001 9:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 15998    We had those dolls in our school too. Every junior girl has to have one for a certain amount of time. They'd go off in the middle of class and everything. And I think you are making a great choice. I am 15, and I know I am not going to have sex anytime soon. My bf and I have already even talked about it... not until we are married. Hopefully things don't change by then b-cuz i wouldn't want to take the chance of ruin my future or possibly my childs. -scooter9009
Date: 8/24/2001 10:16:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 31357    I agree with all of you. I know that i should have some morals about having sex before marriage, but i dont really. I just dont want to get preganant...b/c i've heard all of your stories..and i would just be worried everytime about getting pregnant--and stuff like that.
Date: 8/25/2001 9:47:00 AM  From Authorid: 17693    yeah....that would suck. to have a kid i dont really want come and ruin my life. its bad news for me and a poor innocent baby. thats really scary. Then that bring this topic into some of that abortion stuff but i wont go into it.
Date: 8/26/2001 1:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 8374    just started high school---went to lunch---saw four girls pregnant...back in junior high i saw this girl who just came back from a break with a baby in her arms and she showed the baby off to the counselors and teachers....=-O
Date: 8/26/2001 8:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 4144    with all the information out there now about teen preg. there should be NO pregnant teens. there is a lot more educating going on now than 20 years ago and there seems to be more kids getting pregnant. not blaming the parents but, i know some 13 and 14 year olds that are allowed to date. that's too young to let the kids out alone with a 16 year old boy. the girls are so busy trying to act 'older' that they don't really use their heads. my niece was allowed to date at 14 and she now has a baby that she can't take care of and the baby's father is a pervert.
Date: 8/27/2001 10:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 20104    I think teen pregnancy is terrible. If your gonna have sex at least be careful. My cousin got pregnant when she was 15. She was a straight A student and was #1 in her calss. She had the baby and had ok grades after that. At least she finished highschool. But unfortunately all the scholarships she was supposed to get went right down the toilet. Pretty sad.
Date: 10/4/2001 5:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 17693    i dont think stupid people should be allowed to have sex. but people are gonna be stupid people and there isnt that much you can do about it. and alot of these girls are scared to tell their parents stuff. i think they should make protection and birth control more available w/o having to go to the parents. because they are gonna do it anyways, so let them at least be safe. and no, i dont really think it will give them the wrong message.
Date: 10/4/2001 5:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 33088    Star Princess, I know of at least TWO pregnant young girls on this board right now. How comforting your words must be to them....
