I've heard women say this before, but I'm sorry, I find it very hard to believe that a women-girl could be pregnant and not know. There are a lot of changes in a womens body. We all know what they are, how could she not know. So I say No she can't be pregnant and not know. Thanks for your post |

I wonder about this too... I just can't see it being possible. All three of mine were so busy in there that I couldn't help but notice that SOMETHING was going on (LOL), but then again, I'm very tiny, so there wasn't much room for them to begin with :o) |

Personal story! My aunt(not by blood) claimed for months that she had a moveable tumor! She had already had 2 children so all the relatives believed her. As for me, I knew without a doubt I was in the family way! Leana, my daughter-in-law knew it the first time she was with child. So I do't know how people can not believe they are expecting unless it is denial! |

Hi, Sherri! There's nothing to be sorry about, it's puzzling to me also. But some of the stories I've heard have absolutely made me think twice. I'm still on the bench about it, though. I can't decide either way. *sigh* I definitely wonder how someone couldn't know, though! *hugs* |

I've heard of it happening. But I can't imagine not knowing I was pregnant. My belly got HUGE and like you when my son kicked people could see my belly move. So, I guess it's possible. I just couldn't imagine it. I was watching an E.R. show on TLC and a woman came in complaining she was in pain in her abdomen. She was a very large woman and when they checked her out they found out she was pregnant. When they asked her how far along she was - she had no idea what they were talking about. They told her she was pregnant and about to give birth. She had no idea she was pregnant. I was shocked that she didn't know. So, I guess it is possible. |

YES!! I know they can! LOL...when I was pregnant with my second son, I didnt know it until I was almost 5 months along! I thought something was going on, but I still had my periods, and I didnt gain any weight during that time, but something wasnt right..I took 4 pregnancy test, which all came out negative..At almost 5 months I went to my OBGYN for a pap smear because I was concerned that I may be having some female problems..only to find out that I was almost 5 months pregnant..I delivered him at 7 and a half months! shortest pregnancy I ever saw!! LOL...I had a friend who was overweight..she started having cramps one day and they continued to get worse, until she couldnt stand it anymore...her husband took her to the hospital where she delivered an 8 pound baby boy!! She had NO idea she was even pregnant!! Imagine the shock when she told the family!! LOL...xoxo |

OMG, Penny! You know, you made me think about when I was pregnant with my first son. I was four months pregnant before my doctors even knew. I was sick really really bad, but all my pregnancy tests (blood and urine) kept coming out negative! I felt like I was pregnant, but they kept telling me no. Then, when they finally decided to do an internal, he turns to me and says, "Do you know you are about 16 weeks along?"!!!! I was ready to kill him because I had been on birth control all that time! *hugs* |

Oooppss! Sorry, SilverStar! Didn't mean to skip you. I lost 10 pounds when I got pregnant with my first son because I was so sick. I didn't start to gain weight until about my sixth month, and then I got huge! lol... Of course, they put me on steriods too for premature labor, which didn't help none. They gave me the steriods in case he was born too early. The steriods are supposed to mature the baby's lungs. *hugs* |

Lady Luck - I know... My son has been off the bottle since he was a year old and he's doing so well with the potty training. He even likes to stand up and go like his daddy now. It's so cute. The only thing I'm having trouble with is - if he wears underwear, pull up or a diaper he'll pee in them, but if I let him run around the house naked.... he'll tell me when he has to go. So, I'm letting him do his way and hopefully he'll come around. |

That's what I heard, so I'm doing what I do best and being patient with him. I'm home all day anyway, and nobody except my mother and the babies parents come over during the day. If we go anywhere I put a diaper or pull up on him. If we go out to eat I take him to the bathroom with me and get him to go. That way he gets the idea that even when we aren't home he should tell me he has to go pee. |

I was in the car listening to the song "Love Shack" and I was singing along to it and all the sudden if felt like I had butterfly's in my abdomen....it almsot tickled. I don't want to say butterfly's in my belly, cause that's up higher.... anyway it was really wierd. The next time I felt him was a few weeks later coming home from my brother-in-laws wedding and my hubby and I wear getting fustrated with each other over driving directions or something and he moved while I was somewhat yelling at my hubby and in the middle of my yelling I started laughing.... My hubby thought I had gone nuts on him for a second.... then I told him that the baby had just moved and he was like "You probably scared him with your yellin'". I shut up and kept my hand on my belly the rest of the way home hoping he move agian. |

Hmm..I'm really undecided. My friend Crystal got pregnant when she was only 15, and had Kyle (her baby) a few days after she turned 16. She still swears up and down to me that she had no clue at all that she was pregnant until her 8th month. She said her periods didn't stop, and she didn't get very big at all during her pregnancy. I want to believe her, but I'm not sure..I mean, I don't see how someone can be that out of tune with their body. I mean, I'm a teen and if I decided to have sex (way off the topic, lol), I would be watching every little tiny indication that I might be pregnant. Maybe she was just scared to tell her parents, I don't know, but her dad wouldn't talk to her for a while after she told them. Or maybe its because of how young they were or they're just in denial and don't believe they are pregnant. But anyways, great post!! I was just browsing through posts this morning and wasn't gonna reply, but I saw this one and logged in to reply. :) |

My boobs were never sore, the automatically started getting bigger. I was even discharging colustrum at 4 months. I was never sick, just a little nausea and never lost a pound i gained it from the begining. I was 145lbs when I got pregnant and when I delievered I was 210lbs. I couldn't believe how huge I got. |

I think it can happen. My sis in law thought in Jan that she was pregnant but only a few months. She said that she started filling "flutters". Well 3 weeks after this, she gave birth to a healthy *luckly* baby girl who will be 6 next year. My husband always questioned if she really knew. Saying maybe she was scared to tell her parents *she was only 17*. I stand by her because she was drinking and smoking *cigs* and this is something she would never have done if she knew. She gets mad when she hears that women do this. She didn't skip any visits from Mother Nature. She couldn't figure out why she couldn't lose wieght no matter how hard she tried. I have also known a lady that didn't know with either one of her children that she was pregnant till she was 5 mths. So yes I think it can happen. |

This happened to my cousin..One day she was having severe pains and thought it was her appendix..My aunt rushed her to the Dr's office and as the Dr was checking her he realized she was pregnant and in labor..She delivered her daughter within minutes of reaching his office..She had been swimming the day before in a bikini and didn't show at all..She carried the baby under her ribs and had her cycle as normal..My Friend also had this happen..She was extremely overweight and went to go to the restroom and started delivering while sitting there..They rushed her to the hospital and she gave birth to a 13lb baby girl. |

I know I am male, so please don't say I don't know what I am talking about when it comes to females, but I have to say, YES it is definitely possible for a girl to be pregnant and not know it, even possible for women in their 30's to be pregnant and not know it. It is definitely possible. |

I come from a small town with alot of single, young mothers and I have heard this so many times.I think it is mostly denial. It could also be that at a young age we are not so familiar with our bodies.I have a friend who was pregnant at 17 but says she didnt know until she went to the Dr. after she had been missing her period and she was told she was 7 1/2 months pregnant.Another girl I know claims she didnt know she was pregnant until 2 WEEKS before delivery!!!I dont know how this is possible, I think she made the story up to appease her mother who is very catty and looks down on such things.I know another girl who had the same claim and the only way I can figure it out is that she was overweight to begin so she didnt recognize any weight gain.Maybe if someone can claim they didnt know they were pregnant until they are nearly due, it makes it more acceptable in according to their age and if they are single--but as for the older woman, I have no idea!!!Almost all pregnancies are different and if you go by your first pregnancy and all your symptoms you may not know what to look for in your following pregnancies so you dont recognize any unfamiliar signs. My first pregnancy at 19 yrs old could have gone unnoticed because I didnt get morning sickness and I only gained 14lbs but I knew right away I was because I just felt different. My 2nd pregnancy was w/a set of twins so that definately was obvious although I didnt get morning sickness I gained 40lbs:), yipes:::Frostbyte |

When I was pregnant with my second daughter I never gained any weight, I actually lost weight. I know of a couple women that I am friends with who had their period all through their pregnancy. Also While I was pregnant once I started to bleed. When I went to the doctor they said not to get to upset yet. He said he had to do tests but it wasn't neccesarily a miscarriage because many women had their period through pregnancy. Mine was a miscarriage though. I also had three children and I know with my last one I was very nervous that something was wrong because the other two were so active it hurt. My third one hardly moved. The doctor told me not to worry that some babies move less than others. So I guess if all these circumstances were right there is a good chance you could not even know you were pregnant. I never could have mistaken this though because I had sickness from day one to the day I had the baby with every one of them. That's why I lost weight with my second child. But some women don't even get sick. ***Shelly*** |

I haven't read the other replies so I don't know if this has already been said (sorry). First off, Why would your mom lie about this? Second, I do believe that this could happen, especially under the conditions you described (period, no weight gain, no movement). If I hadn't stopped menstrating with my first child [and if I hadn't been soooo nauseated], I would've never known that I was pregnant. I didn't show, I gained *maybe* ten pounds [mainly a result of all of that vomiting I did:-)], and my son never moved. He was fine [ultrasound/other tests] but I may have felt him "kick" me once. But if I hadn't known that I was pregnant, I would have just thought it was gas:-) So, I guess I think that a woman could be pregnant and not know it. In very rare cases, but it is definitely possible, IMO. ~peace~ |

Nice for you to stop by, Teep. To answer your first question, you don't know my mom very well. She has lied to me a lot over the years about numerous things. It seems like most of my childhood was built around lies and family secrets...*sigh* (And, no, I'm not proud of that...) I am not saying I don't believe that this could never happen to anyone. I'm just not totally convinced this is true in my mom's case. Actually, after talking to all of you, more and more I'm starting to feel like it really could happen. Hugs back atcha, Tammy, and lol, my story is probably the same as others here, LOL, you have so many replies, lol. Okay, my Mom knew this girl in high school who was really, really obese, and she went to the hopsital one night with totally bad cramps, imagine her surprise when she delivered a baby. She didn't know it because she was so obese, she didn't notice any new growth. She also suffered from all the things women suffer during pregnancy, but attributed them to feeling bad, as she always felt, being severely obese. But I have also heard of very thin women who don't really grow 'out'. They are not aware of their pregnancy, a woman in my home town was like this, she never grew a belly, so dismissed the symptoms until she delivered a baby. So I believe it can happen, that is why, lol. Although all of these responses are good, at least the half that I read, lol. Love and Big Monkey Hugs, |

When you were pregnant with your children.. did you feel any of this?
