Michael jackson has melonoma a type of skin cancer that stops the tyrosine from producing the hormone MELANOCYTE(melanin) which aids in pigmentation( melanin ) african american people have a abundance of tyrosine being produced however when they get skin cancer it is very rare that is why you dont hear of many african americans getting it unless they have a white parent like Bob marley who died of melanoma cause he didnt get it treated. Michael Jackson has a VERY rare case of melanoma. He did not have any type skin ligtneing, cause there is none there is skin bleaching but that takes MANY MANY YEARS to do and does not have the pale skin effect that michael jackson has. Also the only surgery he had done was on his nose for a acciden that happned due to a accident on a commerical. this is the truth and i know all this cause well ive reserched this little tibit for A WHILE and i happen to be a big fan of michale's for a loong time LOVE  |

It was a pepsi commercial that he got burnt in. But I think he has his skin bleached or something. And if you notice Janets skin gets lighter and lighter. But in my opinion there is no difference in trying to make your skin lighter than there is in tanning to make it darker.  |

Actually there is a disease that could cause that....whether or not he really has it, I don't know because I've never seen him without make-up. I've had friends who were of hispanic roots have that disease. By the end of high school their skin tone was whiter than my fair skin. My mother even has a form of the disease. She has snow white spots all over her skin...To answer your question, I don't know. It is important though what he is trying to be...he comes from a black family, by having the surgery for his nose and wearing light make-up, it does seem that he is "rejecting" his roots. But that is my opinion...  |

wow I hadn't even heard of that theory (the condition one) before. Only that he had surgery. If it's surgery Im kind of dissapointed in him...why did he feel like he needed to do that? He shouldn't want to change himself. I have never heard of a skin condition that causes that though LOL. I think it was surgery. It' sad either way.  |

Actually the Pepsi commercial was WAAAAAAYYYYYY back when I was 6 and in 1st grade.....so that was 19 years ago. What happened is they had the sparks flying in the background like they do at the concerts. This was back in the days when he did the Billie Jean album and he wore his hair all greased up. The shooting sparks ignited with the grease in his hair and sent his hair into flames and he was burnt pretty badly...regardless I agree with what Freedom Fighter said, there is no way that he went that light so quickly without something being wrong with him. Not to mention Lisa Marie even contested to the fact that he is never without make-up. Even when he went to bed because of the condition that he has. Having a skin disease just makes more sense and seems more plausible than bleaching his skin or trying not to be black....  |

he has had many surgerys on his nose to get it to look just right and a couple on his lips. he has a skin conditon that makes his skin blotchy so he bleached his skin so it didn't look funny. -WickedHatchetGirl  |

Freedom Rider, I don't know where you got or did your "research" but I never, ever heard or read of Michael Jackson having any cancer, and Melanoma is cancer. Melanoma=a dark pigmentation, usually a malignant tumor. That would require cheo therapy and or radiation treatment, none of which Michael Jackson has had. Melanosis is a condition marked by abnormally intense DARK pigmentation, the opposite of MJ's condition. Now, there is a medical term for his condition, and it is like achromasia =the absense of normal pigmentation or allochromasia =a change in the color of the skin. I will call my dermatologist to find out the exact definition for it. Also, Michael has had MANY plastic surgeries......most of them in an attempt to CORRECT previous surgeries that went bad. He's had several surgeous, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out some of those surgeons MOTIVES when you consider Michael's great wealth. As for his wearing makeup all the time, what would YOU do if you had all this medical condition plus the botched surgeries and looked like a spotted hyenna or a freak of nature???? You might do the same; YOU might do anything to try to hide or mask it all.....No?  |

It's a disease that made him start spotting. So he decided to go ahead and finish it off b4 the disease did. He has his skin lightened so no one would see those embarrassing spots. His an entertainer. You can't be a superstar and go around spotted. Have you never seen anyone with the disease? I would have had my skin lightened too.  |

actually the bleaching would not work on him cause well its not suited for Dark skinned people bleive me ive had to do some skin bleaching(but didnt work cause i needed something stronger) and on the can of skin bleaching cream it specifically says not reccomended for dark skinned people and thak you to the thinker for clearing that part about the disease for me my reserch didnt lead to a real name but being a huge fan of michael jackson and knowing people who knew him i know he was proud of his skin color and well like thinker said would you want to go around looking like a freak?? I sure wouldnt and thats why as a person suffering with sensitive skin i need surgery on my face and arms due to excessive melanin prouduction and damaged skin PEACE |

I use to watch Michael Jackson when he use to sing with his brothers and he was a very cute little dark skinned boy..His nose was broad and his mouth was very full..The Michael Jackson of today looks no where near to what he use to.. i think he does have the disease..but i was around in the 80's and saw him changing, he did get the nose job, the facial reconstruction (chin, jaw, etc) he did get lightened too...but yes, he has the disease.....i think he looked better before he starting monkeying with his looks. he was handsome before 8-)  |
