The town was Enfield in London and there was indeed a famous poltergeist
there during the late 1970s. The actual address of the house was never given for fear of
attracting unwanted attention. I also think that the name 'Harper' was a pseudonym
given by authors reporting on the case to protect the family. One of the investigators
on the case, Guy Lyon Playfair, wrote a very interesting book on the subject detailing all the
strange happenings in the house. The book is called 'This House is Haunted'. Also, if you type
in 'Enfield Poltergeist' on a Yahoo internet search you should find some more info.
Hope this helps,
Nick.

I rember reading about the incident, and have A book on those happenings, but alas, I can't find it! If I do, I'll add anything I find that isn't already posted.

I live in Enfield and have heard all of the stories about the house which probably is true as there are many ghost sitings and stories that are associated with lots of buildings in my area. There is a book being published on all of these if you are interested. |
