I knew a girl in my old Chicago neighborhood who ended up "missing" when she refused to marry the man the parents set her up with. I've heard that death is a punishment for women who do not carrying out the arrangement. WHen I was about 8 or 9 years old there was an Arabic family that lived next door. I was friends with the girl my age who lived there. She told me that she had met the boy her parents told her that she was going to marry. (Yes, at that age!) She told me that she didn't want to marry him, because she was in love with Michael Jackson and Menudo! LOL! Anyways, I can't believe they have arranged marriages. How is that religiuos to marry to "serve" a man and reproduce? I think love should be involved.  |

I think they are barbaric. I think people should get married of their own fre will and not because their parents think it would be a good idea. Marriage shouldn't be about genetics or money or property, it should be about mutual love and trust! This practice goes back to when women were treated as property and not as equals. I thik the practice should be outlawed...  |

I believe it is good and bad. I mean for one if a girl isn't "popular" she will end up with some one no matter what. But if your just not the type to want to get married why should you have to? I mean there are many ways to look at it but it just is what you believe in. ~§~Kitty Kat~§~ |
