Its been two weeks since I quit. If I had had any idea how great it would feel I'd have stopped a long time ago. No words can describe this freedom. I also know that nothing one can say to a smoker will make any difference if THEY themselves do not want to stop. Zyban, Nicorette, Patches, hypnosis, you name it, nothing works unless one is committed, motivated, and is totally determined to stop. There are TWO great motivators that got ME to stop. #1. I'd always talked about the power of the mind, and tapping into that power to accomplish anything. I BELIEVE this! So, I did a real self analysis, and the realization hit me hard that I was a hypocrite when it came to smoking. When I fully realized this, I was ashamed, disgusted, and KNEW I could not continue to espouse, preach and teach anyone else about hypocrisy, crutches, excuses, etc. There was no turning back. And, #2. Peter Jennings death really pushed me over the edge, and was the icing on the cake. NOTHING could make me pick up a cigarette again. Nothing. I am free. Congratulations, Tonya!  |
