kysta, I would've been upset as well but, I think I would wait to find out what the doctor says before, confronting the teacher. I know when, my two are old enough to go to school I would want to be notified right away even, if the teacher or nurse feels it isn't a big deal. I hope your daughter feels better. And, if the doctor feels that it is something that should've been looked at yesterday then, tell the teacher immediate and even if, he doesn't think it is something that he had to see right away let the teacher know next time you want to know regardless. |

I think that you have EVERY reason to be upset. Yea it may not be anything life threatening but what if she pulled a muscle. That hurts when we adults have a kink or a pinch in our necks. I would be very upset, she should have been allowed to call you. YOU are the mother and it should have been your call as to whether she stayed at school or went home. Let me know what the doctor says. I am curious and I hope she feels better soon.........Take Care.. |

With cases of menangitis and such going around, I hardly think that was the teacher's call. At the very least, she could've notified you or sent her to the nurse. (Not saying that it is menangitis, she would have more symptoms; just giving an example...) Good luck at the doctor's! *hugs* |

At the very least your daughter should have been sent to the school nurse. I would call the teacher after school today and get her side of the story....Kelly |

As a fellow mother I can't agree with you more for being upset(well actually furious!). If a 5 year old child slept on thier neck wrong enough to hurt it wouldn't hurt that much, and you sure would've known before you sent her off to school. How much of an idiot is this teacher?? Or does this teacher not give a crap?!? You should have been called the minute your daughter said she was hurting!! Or at least sent to the nurse, and then called you! Its obvious she got hurt during the course of the day at school. I can't beleive people are that stupid!! I hope your daughter is ok and you get this situation resolved! |

You need to understand that the teacher has a lot of kids complaining about tummy aches, having to go potty and necks hurting on occasion. If I were her I probably would have told her she probably slept on it wrong and had her go sit down. You should think about how many 5 year olds want to call their mommy from school. The teacher is not at fault and neither are you. Just take her to the doctor if she's still in pain. I'm sure it's nothing serious. She is certainly getting your attention so she may just keep it up. My 3 year old son had us convinced he broke his arm a few months ago. He got it from a Little Bill cartoon on Nickolodeon. He wanted a cast like Little Bill when the truth finally came out. You'd be amazed what kids do for attention. |

HAWK............I am sorry to say that I disagree with you! Which is no surprise but any child that does what Kaylee did is not just trying to get attention! I know Kaylee and I know there is probably something wrong with her!!!!! AND THAT IS ALL I WANT TO SAY TO YOU!!!!! NO I WANT TO SAY ONE MORE THING..............I will say a prayer for you!!!!!!!!!! |

And I don't care how many complaints a teacher gets a day, she should take them all serious! If it were her child she would want them to be treated with compassion and understanding and to be believed and not told to go sit down somewhere! The same thing happened with my sister one time.....EMT IN TRAINING......She had to go to the bathroom and because she had just went an hour ago the teacher wouldn't let her and she ended up in the hospital with a severe infection. And you better believe that she heard from my MOM AND DAD! They always taught us not to lie and they told the teacher that if she said she needed to go to the bathroom then she needed to go. She wouldn't lie to them!!!!!!! I think it's terrible when kids just get dismissed because they are kids and adults don't take them serious! And I know that sometimes kids pretend and maybe they aren't getting the attention they need at home. But I hope and pray that everything is ok with Kaylee!!!!!! |

Hi Kysta My son passed away with spinal menigitis and one of the symptoms was neck soreness.. Menigitis is going around now and yes I would have been very upset at the teacher..She had no right to make that call..I would definitely make my objections known to the school prinicipal and if he/she didn't at least reprimand the teacher, then the school board would hear from me..I do hope your sister is ok.. |

Kysta you are not overreacting at all, I would have been calling the school to find out WHY you were not called when it originally happend. Not medically qualified but it sounds as if she has pulled a muscle in her neck and that will hurt, you should have been called or at least informed that she had complained about her neck hurting. |

Thanks to all of you who commented!!!!!!!!! I appreciate it!! Rusure, I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I'm lucky, my daughter only had a sprained neck, my thoughts are with you! Hawk, I thought she may be faking too, I look for that kinda of stuff. but the pain in her eyes proved that she wasn't. Plus she couldn't turn her neck to that same side all night long and she kept her ear to her shoulder to keep from straightening it out, I know she wasn't faking it because it was obvious. Also when this child comes home and goes straight to sleep you KNOW something is wrong, LOL! But I can see where you are coming from and I appreciate your comment... the story about your son was funny too. I don't think my kids could carry it off though, LOL!!! Love and hugs to you all!!!! |

Kysta..I have just gotten over a problem where I couldn't turn my neck from side to side..I don't think it would be so easy for a child to fake something like that..They fake headaches, sick tummies, etc, things which are not so obvious..At least mine did.. ..One time one of my sons didn't want to go to school because his head and tummy hurt..I went to get the thermometer and I put it in his mouth and left the room..I returned to checked it and the line was so high that I couldn't see it..Ummm,well now..How did that happen?..My son went to school because he felt find to me and had no signs like flushed cheeks,etc..This was just one of those calls I made that mothers has to do sometimes..I was a little concern though..I had thought that maybe his headache, etc meant that he was going to get sick..He was find when he came home though..Later as he sat around playing with cars with his brother,I heard my son tell his brother that he run hot water on the thermometer, while they sat and laughed..Precious memories are made of the cutiest things that our children did as they were growing up. |
