DMK...all I know is that anything is possible. That is why I try to find the truth for myself and not just rely on what someone wrote down or someone told me. I try to weigh out the facts and ponder it and see what feels right to my spirit. For all I know....both the Bible and the scrolls contain myths and not complete truth. If the story had to be true....well then I would wonder if Satan didn't have a hand in the compiling and altering of the books contained in the Bible in order to present himself as God (which seems to be what the book in this post is saying he does) and have man worship him. It's an interesting twist. |

lady nyx, i think you will get a kick out of this, talk about making up your own mind, my 8 year old thinks that Zeus is Jesus's father. He is one of those kids who have alot of questions about religion. If we dont think we can answer the questions well, we find someone who can. It was around christmas time one year, and he wanted to know what hannika (i know i spelled that wrong) so we took him to a synegog(i know i spelled that one wrong too, but you get my point lol). anyway i thought you might get a chuckle |

LOL...that is cute. And...good for you for taking your son to the Synagogue. I think children should be exposed to all beliefs. I have a one and a half year old....and I still don't know how I'm going to exactly explain to him what I believe about God since I have no particular religion. My husband is an Episcopalian....and their very nice people...but I don't agree with all their teachings. I think I'll take him around to different places too to let him see the differences and similarities. |

Without going into all kinds of explanation, I'll just say that I have long been saying that all that creation story is one huge MYTH. |

I think this is pretty accurate in it's own right. In light of what I already understand about the bible, this would make perfect sense. I find the fact that it refers to GOD as satan, which is something many do not understand, very interesting. He is the GOD of this world. And secondly, I find it ironic that GOD of the world tried to make himself look innocent in his motive, yet hid from the outcome. He likely did have a hand in their "changed" likeness (with genitalia) after they ate of the fruit. The mightiest of Creators would never bring to light that which must then be hidden.....Great post. |

To me this sounds like Satans side of the bible. Like you know how God has people write the bible for him... maybe Satan wanted to tell his story too, because this is what it sounds like to me. |

Thunderhead, I find it really interesting too. It makes more sense to me that the God of this world....who according to the Bible is Satan....would really be the one who created the world and also would be the one who would tell Adam and Eve not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge. Why would the entity we now call God...meaning the good one, not Satan....not want man to have knowledge. That never made any sense to me. This story answers more of the questions and distills some of the confusion in the original Garden of Eden story....in my opinion. |

Toodles... I know what you are saying....I had kind of the same reaction at first. I read it over a couple of times and tried to stand back and be impartial when reading it and I found that in many ways this version makes more sense on some of the contradictions regarding the story of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden. |

Paranoid....LOL....I say that all the time. Yes, every good lie has a bit of truth to it. That's what makes it not so easy to see through....which is why I like to keep studying and learning for myself. I'm still in the mindset that all this Garden of Eden story is really more of a myth than truth....but haven't finished researching it enough and want to wait to see what else I can learn. |

I want to add one other thing that I find really interesting in this book....and that is that it tells of Gods and Goddesses....not just one God. For some reason that makes more sense to me that there would be mutliple Gods and Goddesses....and on different spiritual levels. |

Lady Nxy, interesting. But if you put this into some perspective, EVERY story can be a myth. However, I am a believer that some stories in the Bible may be myths, including the story of creation, but it doesn't change the fact that there is a CREATOR, and I just don't buy that it was a woman or Satan. Guess I'm just too old fashioned to change my views. Good and informative post, however, and yes, you have peaked my interest in these manuscripts. Free Girl |

Amazing, because in the bible, it states clearly that "god" (gods - ha-elohim = plural) said the same thing about dying from eating the fruit. Also that "the man has become as one of "US". Clearly an indication of notion of many-god worship on the part of the writers of the biblical creation account. The phrase ha-elohim is used many times in the text. There is no other translation. it means "the gods". Good post Lady. Nag Hamadi has a wealth of interesting stuff, particularly the Gospel of Thomas. I think that's my favorite. |

Also the biblical account gives us strong indication that God lied to Adam, whereas, this account wouldn't tarnish Gods reputation quite so much. hehe |

Thanks, Osiris. I didn't know that about the translation of ha-elohim. Very interesting. And...yes...this version would seem to take care of the conflict of God being deceitful or unfair. It just would make more sense to me. |
