my son had chicken pox when he was 8 months old and it sounds to me like your daughter has them. Your best bet would be to call your pediatrician or if you dont have one find out if there is a medical advice # in your area. When my son had chicken pox we were told to give him a cool bath(lukewarm)with some baking soda in the bath.Give her Children's Benadryl and try putting Aveeno anti itch with natural oatmeal on the pox.I don't know what a doctor would say about your 6 month old getting it so you might want to talk to a doctor soon.also don't let her scratch the pox because it spreads them and might scar.I hope that this is helpful to you but once again i urge you to talk to a doctor. good luck!.........shatterstarfire![]() |

Well it sounds like them, I have had them bad before. The only way you get them twice is if you didn't have them bad the first time.. you'll need calimine (Spelling?) to put on it, to help the itching, if it gets worse see your doctor. Others in your house who have never had them may get them, it shows up about two weeks later on them. Most of the time chicken pox last 10 to 14 days.. Give tylenol for the fever...Hopefully I was able to give you a little bit of help. ![]() |

Well, first talk to a doctor or pediatrician about it. Then I think you should do everything that Shatterstarfire and GEG said. I don't know to much about Chicken Pox because I haven't had them yet. But don't let her scratch them. Otherwise they'll scar. Keep us posted... ![]() |

Go to the doctor. For all you know it could be an allergic reaction. In the meantime don't let your child scratch! Boredbug ![]() |

It sounds like chicken pox to me! It doesn't happen very often, but just because you've already had chicken pox, doesn't mean you can't get them again. You can tell they're chicken pox, because after about a week, they develop a hard crust on top, like a scab and are very itchy. I'd put calamine lotion on them (it'll help dry them up), and take the child to the doctor so he can prescribe an antihistamine like Benadryl so the child won't itch so bad. Try keep the baby away from the child until they clear up. My 9 month old son caught them from my daughter and did fine. There is also a new Varicella vaccine they give kids so they don't develop chicken pox, but I think your baby has to be a little older to be vaccinated with it. I don't think you'll get it again. You need to take the child to the doctor and he'll tell you everything you need to know. Just trying to be helpful. ![]() |

Oh, also, chicken pox is a virus and can be spread by contact or sneezing or coughing, etc. Make sure you wash any clothes or blankets that come in contact with the infected child in hot water, and try keep the child in a room away from your other child. There's nothing you can do to get rid of it, you can only try to keep your child as comfortable as possible while she has it. ![]() |

Sound like you've already been given good advice but here is one more. Get here a large feather strong enough for her not to break, out of a clean feather duster should work and let here gently rub it over the spots. This will affect the nerve endings which are making here feel the itch without hurting the sores which will make it scar. Good luck, I thought my son had them but turns out it was something else. Curious, did she have her shot? - iammerane ![]() |

Your 6 month old could get them, but if you are breast feeding him, he is better protected against viruses like chicken pox, and shouldn't come down with them if you don't expose him to them directly. Do the blotches look "wet" chicken pox look like wet blisters, which is how they spread. They usually start in warm areas of the body (which you may have not seen any before you saw the ones on your daughter's face) under the arms or the trunk area...It will last about 7 to 10 days and the sores will crust over and it helps to bathe in aveeno bath powder (it has oatmeal i think in it) and calamine lotion helps with the itching. Of course benadryl does also, and it will knock her out (help her sleep) If she does have it you won't get it if you have trully had chicken pox. I have heard of mild cases (one or two pox erruptions) resulting in people getting it again....Your Doctor can tell you more about that. Some people I think don't really have it when they thought they did, or may just have such a mild case that their immune system doesn't react to it the next time and they get the full monty the next time! In any case I hope your daughter feels better, and gets well soon! ![]() |

FYI My son was exposed to chicken pox at 4 weeks and I was so worried but he was ok. I immediately got all my kids vaccinated and aside from them all running low fever's and being cranky it was totally worth it! Once my daughter had some spots on her that were spreading and it turned out to be flea bites, and she had a reaction to them kinf odf like hives....my mom has 2 dogs and my daughter had spent the night with her. The fleas liked her better than the dogs!....but my point is the school nurse sent her home and told me it was chicken pox. I had to take her to the doctor and return her with a note so she could go back to school. ![]() |

hmm... how big are these blotches?? when my twin sister was little she got a form of strep that caused her to get little red dots all over her body, and wherever there was a dot, she could not move that body part.. it was diagnosed as HSP (henock shoneline perpera) and was cure... I would go talk to a doctor.. it probably is just pox.. but just in case... --willowfae ![]() |

Chicken pox are contagious. Contrary to belief you can get the pox more than once(depending on the severity of the infection)but most usualy dont. Chicken pox often start with flu like symptoms,so you may all be infected.Pox are relativly harmless in children but can be fatal to adults...so take care and i hope you all feel better soon..RAZORTALON ![]() |

when my daughter got chicken pox it started as little blisters.(spots filled with clear liquid).they then dryed up nd left marks on her body.BUT two weeks later she got a new batch of blisters all over again.(i thought she had got rid of them all). my son then caught them from her he started with blisters too but his went quicker leaving no marks and he didnt get a new batch. i dont think it is contagious when the spots are visible. it,s more contagious when you think the spots have gone. i have been told you can only get chicken pox once but when my children had it i found my skin to be very itchy. ![]() |

Yes, you can get them again and yes, your 6 month old can get them too. Take your child to the doctor and get medicine so it can be treated before it gets spread around your house....Good luck ~Boofer~ ![]() |
