ok, discount is $214.16 (i rounded) the amount for computer after discount is $662.77. if you do tax BEFORE discount, it would be $39.46 for tax, which would make the computer $702.23. if you do tax AFTER the discount, the tax would be $29.82. and the cost of the computer would be $692.59. now if i even did any of the correctly (which i doubt i did, seeing i stink at math) that would be a mirical. like i said, i doubt i got any of it right though |

I'm not sure I understand your question. If the computer was reduced "to" 27.5% then its cost is $241.16. But, if it was reduced "by" 27.5% then its cost is $635.14. The tax on each value is $10.85 and $28.58 respectively. so the two totals are $252.01 and $663.72. Take your pick... Oh yea, the discount on the first figure is $635.77, the second is $241.16. |

Original Cost = 876.93. 876.93 X .275(% discount) = 241.16(discount). New price with discount = 635.77. 635.77 X .045(tax) = 28.61. 635.77 + 28.61(tax) = 664.38 (total cost). |

I'm assuming they are adding the tax after the discount...in the retail world they usually do that......it doesn't make sense to pay more tax when you get a discount. |
