In School, Corporal punishment is strictly banned in the UK. Do you agree with this?

Capital Punishment is also banned in the UK. What do you think about this? We are losing so much money over feeding the prisinors who have life sentance. And what life is being locked up? None at all.

Halloween is Right around the corner.. .

Date: 2/6/2002 11:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 47296    The old adage is "spare the rod, spoil the child". I took my share of whippings as a child. Not beatings, mind you, but good old fashioned whippings. I do not feel corporal punishment, as long as it it is not done in anger, is a problem. As for capitol punishment, I feel there are times when a person convicted of certain crimes, who by their actions, or after the facts, shows no remorse for what they did, deserve capitol punishment. Case in point, those behind the atrocities of Sept. 11th. ...<Warrior Spirit>
Date: 2/6/2002 11:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 943    I would rather be dead than locked up for life. I see no reason for taxpayers to support a known criminal with a life sentence for the rest of his/her life. We will buy ALL their clothes, food, personal belongings, entertainment, etc. AND if I have enough left over I'll buy MYSELF something. Sad thought!!!
Date: 2/6/2002 11:56:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 46725    Warrior, I completey agree with you! Love and big hugz, Yin Yang
Date: 2/6/2002 12:00:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 46725    That's right Poison Ivy. Why should we be paying for a serial killer's cable? Love and big hugz, Yin Yang
Date: 2/6/2002 12:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 36950    Actually it costs more to put someone to death, after all the appeals and everything. We have to pay lawyers and judges to do the job, so in the end it is cheaper to house, feed and clothe them till they die. At least this is the way we do it in the US. Cyndi
Date: 2/6/2002 12:11:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 46725    In the UK, i think it is different. i don't know, but I think. Love and big hugz, Yin Yang
Date: 2/6/2002 12:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 46014    I dont believe in corporal punishment, but I do believe in capitol...
Date: 2/6/2002 12:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 47296    Cyndi, the cost to house a prisoner, who is under 35, for life is a lot higher than the cost of death row. The average appeals process takes anywhere from 10 to 20 years, based on what state they are in. With newer evidence techniques being used every day, their is less room for appeals. Most appeals now are nothing more than routine to insure proper proceedings were used. ...<Warrior Spirit>
Date: 2/6/2002 12:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    alright I guess I'm one of the few here who HATE and want capital punishment abolished..........I do not nor will I EVER agree with it.
Date: 2/6/2002 12:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 33925    I dont believe in either Corporal or Capital punishment...xoxo
Date: 2/6/2002 2:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 36967    I agree with Capital Punishment, and Corporal Punishment. Look at Singapore, Japan, Argentina, and many of the Indian Reservations, they have the lowest of Crime. So I think they should have it. In schools, don't abuse the kids, or go too far, but I agree that we need it.
Date: 2/6/2002 2:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 39210    I don't agree with Corporal Punishment...but I agree with Capital Punishment 110%. I'm sick of these cold blooded murders & perverts getting out of prison to do the same thing to another innocent person, especially a child. It's time for people to wise up and start putting the victims first, especially the children. I ask you how would you like some pervert get out in 3 years or whatever...or some murderer in 10 years or whatever and the next victim happen to be someone very close to you >>> your child...your mother...your spouse...your best friend??? How would you honestly feel then knowing if this animal was truly put away for good your love one wouldn't have been the next victim. I think about it all the time and I'd go nuts if that happen. Man, everytime I hear about some pervert being released back into society and assaulting another child a few weeks later or whatever, it just really ticks me off knowing this child could have been protected from this only if this monster was truly put away. It may sound harsh to some, but I don't care. I don't have any compassion for these perverts & cold blooded murderers. That's the bottom line.
Date: 2/6/2002 5:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 4144    there's nothing wrong with either except that they are not used enough. once my daughter hit miggle and high school and i had to sign those papers agreeing to paddlings i said ok as long as i got a phone call first so i could be there. elementary school wasn't a problem (she has gone to the same schools as i did with a lot of the same teachers) but i also knew a lot of the middle and high school teachers and i said they could only beat her if i watched! seriously, there are a few teachers who really get off on that and i got my share of paddlings in school and a few times they were not necessary. mostly they were but.....!!!!!
