Dude I think you're diggin really deep here. The author of these verses was using poetic imagery, not scientific fact. I think us Christians try to hard to turn the Bible into a scientific book. The Bible isn't a detailed scientific book. Sure it has some scientific stuff, but it is primarily about God and humans. We really don't need to make some big stride to make the Bible all scientific like this author is trying to do with these facts. Making the Bible into a science book is like trying to find mechanic notes in a cook book.  |

Poetic imagery?....Im not going to go to deep here...but read the verses......This is Gods words here friend.."When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and THICK DARKNESS a swaddlingband for it," Thats not poetic, thats fact from the mouth of God whether you believe it or not I hope to also post on the north....I heard a preacher preach on this. On how God abides in the north,thats where heaven is and how science could prove and has in fact already proven that the north has but one thing out of the vastness of this universe....or "out there".....maybe if I can get the facts and the refferences I will post it....not until I get the facts though...but come on...poetic imageryIf God says he made it than I will believe he did, and Hope God wasnt just being poetic, and I sure hope the writers of the Gospel were just writing peoetic verses? Also the author of this is me...I heard a teaching on it and went to a site and read about dark matter, thats were I got the info, the rest comes from Gods word  |

Dude. Look at the whole thing in 2 Sam 22. It is a poetic song about how God won a battle for them. Really open up the bible and look. In that same chapter the writer says in verse 22:5 the waves of death swirled around me.Does this mean he was literally surrounded by water? Or could it be poetic imagery to convey the fact He was in trouble? COuld these dark clouds be real dark clouds, or like the water reference, be a poetic illusion to show God was up to some serious stuff here. He was fighting. The dark clouds and all that is just imagery by the author to show God was winning the battle, it was serious. It says in 2 Sam 22 The lord is my rock and my fortress. Does this mean God is a literal rock? In your very literal interpretation, yup God is an actual rock. It's just poetic device to show God is a stable, strong God, worthy to be trusted. Us Christians do a diservice to the Bible when we make things like this into some scientific text. |

Your JOb 22 reference is something Eliphaz said in response to Job. If ya read to the end of the book you'll see God rebukes Job's friends for things they said. I wouldn't trust anything they say as fact if God is rebuking them. |

Job 38 also says who shut up the sea behind doors? when it burst forth from the womb. So if you dont see any poetic imagery here the sea is behind literal doors, and it came from a literal womb. God is just using poetic ways to convey a truth. The truth is that God is the one who made the seas and clouds and said where they stop and on and on. The fact isn't that the see is stopped by literal doors or came from a literal womb. |

Six I admire your desire to see the Bible as truth. I believe it is truth to. But we can't let our desire to see it as truth, make us go to bogus attempts to show some kind of scientific facts that were not intended to be there in the first place. |

God is the I....Gods word...I.. I just read the whole chapter and its pretty simple yeah....And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. He is saying the Lord is his Rock, meaning the lord keeps him stable and strong.....Now, you tell me.....in samuel....when david says And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies. ..what does it mean?....also, if you dont take this verse..lets throw it out...answer the Job verse dude |

six..ok..in the samuel one. You see all the imagery david is using in the first part. Then all the sudden he starts giving out solid detailed scientific facts in the second? That just doesn't follow. You see that the high tower is a reference to his strength and that he isn't a literal tower. Why can't you see the cloud is also a reference to an attribute, only said in a poetic form. IN reference to JOb 38. Again look at the verse before and after it. The verse before uses poetic imagery. Unless you believe there are real doors and a womb. The verse after uses imagery unless you believe there are real doors and bars? This whole portion of scripture is talking about God making the seas and the clouds. He's using imagery to show he is the source. |

It just doesn't fit to be using poetic form and then to jump to detailed scientific facts the next verse. Job 39 ..while the morning stars sang together. You really think the stars were carryin on a song? I mean I cant contol you if you want to believe that. I'm just trying to inform you that this is bad bible interpretation, dnd you do more harm than good to the cause of God by reading things into the Bible that weren't intended to be there. That is all. I'd look like a fool if i went aroudn and said, look at that tower over there. That is God. And then pointed to a verse in the bible that said God is a high tower. I think that is what you're doing with your cloud verses. Science found some stuff, and now you're pointing to some verses and saying see, it says it in the bible. I guess next time I see a rock or a high tower I'll just tell people it's God. *nudge* Cuz I got a verse in the Bible that says he is a rock and I high tower. *nudge* |

R1, 'morning stars' is a term often used to describe angels, especially covering cherubs. Siz Gun wouldn't be the first to see truth in illustrations - early thinkers took Isaiah 401-22 to mean that the earth is round, not flat - "Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? In Job and Proverbs, it talks of God drawing a circle in the bottom of the earth. Another theory that half the scientist agree with and the other half don't. It is believed that the whole universe is curved, like the earth is curved, the earth is curved in only 3 dimensions, but the universe is curved in multiple dimensions, maybe infinite dimensions. Here is what I mean, if you leave the north pole and go directly up, at about 6 trillion times the speed of light, make no turns at all so go completely straight, in about 20 seconds later you would hit the earth at the south pole. Believe it or not, the Bible supports this theory, in Job, and Psalms talks about it. |

This is very interresting Sixgun! It does seem real what you are trying to convey, altough ResilientOne also makes a few good points, but I won't pick a side and say the other is wrong. He could be wrong and you right, or vica versa. I saw a documentary about the Bible and it was so good. There were many facts in it that science only recently "discovered". The people of the Bible knew the earth was round, not flat (like Vert also said). How could they know that so long ago? God told them! They also knew there were things that existed that could not be seen with the naked eye (like germs and bacteria). How could they know then without using a microscope? There are also many other interresting things about the Bible, including the mention of dinosaurs and how they were killed. So your theory might just be true!  |

Thanks everyone for replying...thanks Thunderhead...always good to know you read it and thanks also Vert and Drkptrs and Days...R-1, the bible has many Scientific Facts in it....The book of revelation talks about a Beast...and a second Beast...and Mystery Babylon...Now I sure Hope A beast really doesnt rise up out of the ocean...LOL....but it makes refference to other things such as the Antichrist and the false prophet and different things......this is also a refference to Dark matter |

I watched something about this on mysteries of the unexplianed, it says no one understood what dark matter was, only that it held our universe together. If it weren't for dark matter our universe would just fly out to space. I think God said to it make the universe stay and it did!  |
