I live in alabama...everyone is a redneck, or at least the ones in my area are, and there are many many houses with christmas lights. I dont get it and i think its stupid...ive told my mother its stupid and she just said "they want to hold on to the spirt of christmas". I just roll my eyes and say "stupid bama hicks." ~ninna~ |

LOL..There was one house on the street north to us, and they kept their lights up all year long, but they didn't turn them on. By the time Christmas rolled around, and they turned on the lights, more than half of them were burned out...they didn't even replace the bulbs. It looked bad..  |

what are people thinking sheesh!! if they are too lazy to take them down, why put them up in the first place? this post reminds me, i just vacationed in disney world and i learned that disney employees spend an entire 6 months putting up and taking down christmas lights. isn't that insane? lol they start putting them up in late sept and don't finish taking them down until late march. anyway, i just thought that was interesting. -MaceyHope  |

I know what you mean, it is very annoying. I recently saw a house that still had up a huge sled with santa and the reindeer hanging on the porch. The worst is this one house that, get this, It has up not only christmas lights and decorations up for the whole entire year but valentines, easter, and 4th of july all up at the same time all year around. The decorations are just mixed in and when that specific holiday comes around they just light them all up. Very Strange I tell ya   |

OMG, I hate going ANYWHERE with my mother after the second week of Jan, this is her cut off limit for having lights up, if we drive past a house that still has lights up she literally will say "Take those lights DOWN", like the people can hear her,lol. This is her pet peeve, mine is hearing her say "Take those lights down" Bah humbag holidays, lol..........  |

I passed some houses like this the other night. My daughter and I wondered if maybe a soldier was home or something like that. I really don't know why but I enjoyed seeing them anyway. I love lights.  |
