Hey, if that's what you believe...I disagree with you, but that's my American way. Just don't be surprised if you're ever hauled in for being a Commie, though...regardless of the differences there's still an association with it, and who knows when the next McCarthy will try their outdated stuff again... |

Hey, I can't be hauled in for being a commie and I'm all-american. Of my parents, parent's parents and parent's parent's parents, all of them were born in the United States. |

I believe that if you work hard for something, you deserve it to keep it for yourself if you so choose. Also, a ban on organized religion wouldn't necessarily end religious conflicts, as people in support of free, public worship would most likely revolt for their right. Though I don't totally agree with it, Marxism would be great in an ideal society. Unfortunately, this is reality and because of human error, the economy outlined in your post will most likely remain an idealist dream. |

That didn't matter in the McCarthy era...if you had any sort of view that was too "liberal" you were hauled in and called a Communist-regardless of lineage. |

Marxism (and in my opinion communism) is not a bad idea. They are great ideas, in theory. Unfortunately, most theories never work as well in reality. Capitalism is a great idea; stressing that anyone who wants to work can get rich. Of course, most people need money to get the educaction or to fund their ideas. It's no secret that the majority of individuals making the big bucks came from families that were already well off. |

i do not think that marxism, in the true form that was meant by carl marx, is a bad thing. carl marx meant to make things much more equal than they were. but it can't ever be as simple as he wanted it to be. he underestimated the complexities of world and human nature. plus, his beliefs were skewered into communism, and it all went down hill from there. but to answer your question, no, marxism is not a bad thing. luv and hugs -MaceyHope |

Yeah, as a Marxist myself, I'm gonna have to go with you on this one. The only problem is finding a leader who will be so selfless as to finally step down when the society is done being built. -ID- |

I'm with you a 100%. I also favour marxism, but then again I'm not American so I understand that for many americans it is hard to accept this ideology : marxism is often confused for comunism eventhough those are very different things. If we stop to think when comunism began, it meant well. The original idea was good (end social hierarchy- is that how you say it in english? - based on privilege,wealth...) but eventually after the 1st world war the russians had a civil war, so economy was devastated. that forced the newly formed government to take serious measures and go back ideologically (towards capitalism) in order to set things straight again - I'm sure you do remember Lenin's NEP. Eventhough Lenin's ideas were good he did a lot of mistakes and later on going further and further away from his initial purposes. The next leader, Stalin didn't actually care for social problems, he wanted power, he was ambitious so it's wrong to associate marxism with what he tried to do. If we look closer comunism turned out to be a disaster as a regime but while theory it's very nice. Of course no one would like to lose their goods and lands, but try to imagine yourself as poor worker, then you know how harsh life can be for some people and then marxism will appear to you as a good solution. Unfortunately for the poor, in western countries it's not longer possible to establish marxist regimes because we're all capitalists, owners, consumers and we wouldn't give away easily our things. But the advantage of Capitalism is that we get what we worked for and on this you'll have to agree with me even if you're a marxist, that it would be terribly unfair to earn the same as your neighbour if you worked twice as hard as him. At least in capitalism you work for something and you know you get what you worked for. Blade Runner |

Marxists provide a prescription of government tyranny over our lives. It does not work and never will. Francis |
