Signs of depression

I think I might be depressed, but I'm not sure. I was wondering what some of the warning signs of depression are. Lately I have no appetite, and either I sleep all day or can't get to sleep at all. Some days are great, and I'm in a really good mood. But there are days when I want to cry all day for no apparent reason, and then some days I don't feel anything, like I'm empty or something(it's a really weird feeling, like I'm bored, but I don't feel like doing anything, and nothing affects me in any way). I don't know. I probably worrying for no reason, but I am curious to what behaviour is associated with depression.

Date: 4/1/2002 7:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 43692    maybe you have bi-polar disease... Like one time your supper happy and then the next you are really depressed?
Date: 4/1/2002 7:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 50100    I'm no doctor, but I have to say from a person who was and sometime still is affected by depression. You should think about getting some help. I take medication now. I can sleep, and I don't have any mood swings as often. If this persists seek some help. Wishing you well, caramel
Date: 4/1/2002 7:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 43692    lol *super not supper. I hope you'll feel better. If you have a hobby that interests you maybe you can work on it? Maybe you feel the need to do something yet you don't want to work. Again, hope you'll feel better.
Date: 4/1/2002 7:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 51960    Those are some signs of depression. but you should ask your doctor about it.. it could be bi-polar manic depression (really happy then really sad) or just depression. or it may be just life.
Good luck *hugs*
Date: 4/1/2002 7:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 49639    it is NOT bi-polar. Thats a very extreme disease. You should see a counslor if these feelings persist. It may be Depression. God Bless.
Date: 4/1/2002 7:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 19460    i am like you and i worry about the stupidist things... i lay in bed and worry about money, worry about whether or not i'll get up on time, yadda yadda... sometimes im dead tired and can sleep my life away and other times i stay up til 5 or 6 am with no sleep at all and keep on going the next day. I also have what ive heard people call panic or stress attacks. I'm not like this all the time, usually a regular old person. But some days i cry and cry over nothing and when my husband asks me what is wrong i blame it on being homesick for my parents. which is part true. Let me know what you find out.. maybe we can work on this togther. FroggyBaby
Date: 4/1/2002 7:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 49150    Your symptoms sound just like me a few years back. My doctor also said she could tell by looking in my eyes. She said they were flat with no emotion in them. I also cried all the time for no reason. She gave me some meds and I've been fine ever since. Depression can be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. The medicine she gave me make my brain produce seratonin, this chemical gives you an all around good feeling. Those mountains you've been making out of mole hills will become mole hill again. Crisal
Date: 4/1/2002 7:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 11593    I am depressed too, but not as bad as you are. Email me at my Authorid, because I don't feel comfortable talking about this where everyone can read it.
Date: 4/1/2002 9:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 51393    I am not sure if the affect of (ADD),meaning attention deficit disorder mmaybe the same with adults I just know the fact that when you are getting the point of you're life changes will shaken you're destiny outlook the older you get the more broad you're mind will be.That is when you have to expand you're existence in this world by following you're goals in life. This what causes deppression you want more and how do you pursue goals in our life now.I know it is difficult to maintain and pursue what you desire to be and then to change will accomadate with you're action and you will surpass deppression lot of hugs to you
Date: 4/1/2002 10:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 49742    You have signs of depression. I've had it all my life. Been on meds, felt like a human guinee pig, got some what better. But I didn't like feeling numb from drugs. I had side effects from most. Prozac worked at one time. I didn't like the feeling of the sexual side effects most of them caused. I think maybe I have bi-polar, because of the description... of being happy, and then the next minute fall into depression. I live like this all the time. I can feel the brain chemistry when it happens, and I hate it. I wish I could be happy all the time and never be depressed. I have no control over it. I know my brain dosn't produce the serotonin it should. If someone could start a Post on Bi-Polar that would be great. We could learn alot off it. Thanks Angelfollower
Date: 4/2/2002 9:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 52247    what i have heard. yes those are signs of depression and i think you should go to your doctor to see. so it doesnt get worse
Date: 4/2/2002 12:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 51052    Well I am no doctor but do you just feel like that during one particular season, like winter? My friend has seasonal depression. By the sounds of things, you might have a type of depression. Miss Molly
Date: 4/2/2002 12:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 47983    Those sound like signs of depression.. you should find some help.. and good luck :o)......~*Jeset*~
Date: 4/4/2002 4:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 51393    I am not a doctor also ,but i read a lot of medical books and experienced it myself.
sometimes when you feel depressed all of a sudden it caused also by you're eating habits.I learned after eating you have to stand up and walk around so you wont feel stressed by the food you just ate sometimes it causes lack of sleep or not eating enough. You have to balanced you're food intake breath fresh air have a warm/hot tub
drink a little wine have you're favorite candle color lit by the tub,if you're old enough to drink of course relax and then get you're self a good night sleep.you have to tell you're self life is beautiful there are so much to live so much to see and think how beautiful and smelled flowers around you think positive and not let any little things get to you.

Let me tell you a story about me.
I came here in united states 1988 and I was alone I did not have my mom or my sister closeby all I have is my husband and two kids that I love so much.I was depressed when I left Phillipines and of course coming here feeling alone in the world.
regardless if i divorced my husband I am an american citizen from birth anyway I wont really have to worry about anything except survival methods.two(2) yrs later 1990 we left Mcguire NJ and lived in yokota Air Base I got depressed a bit more because all of my sister was there.I felt alone even more reasons why I got married to get away from them not to be around at all.
Now that we moved here to Georgia beautiful people beautiful sight I change a lot depression seems to diminished I felt I have quite a few mom ,dad and sisters and brother around I actually pulled myself out of depression.
All it takes is free will just open you're eyes and see how fortunate you are look what negatives are out there and still you know for a fact you're in a positive direction regardless how you're families are.MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS
