Is anyone in here a Stephen KIng fan? I have been a fan of his for a few years now and have read all his newer books and attempting to read (or should I say find) all his older novels, If you do read his books what are your favorite ones? I also read Dean Koontz and Ann Rice and John Saul, my friends think im freaky because I read horror all the time! HAHAHAHAHA Do you think this is weird?

tinebon=)

Date: 4/1/2002 7:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 45948    No way!! I LOVE Stephen King books!!!! You should also read some of them when he was writing under Richard Bauchman his alias. Those are good too. I can't pick a favorite though, but a few of them would be The Green Mile, Misery, Carrie, well basically all of them except for one....I didn't like the one called "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" I didn't think that one was freaky enough for me....LOL
Date: 4/1/2002 7:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    I like his older books the best. Salems Lot, the Dead Zone and The Stand are a few of my favorites. Have you read the newest one from Dean Koontz Called The Corner of his eye (or something like that)? It was excellent..

Date: 4/1/2002 7:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 17259    I love HORROR!!! I read bits and pieces of "Carrie" by King. I am currently reading Anne Rice's "Interview With The Vampire".
Date: 4/1/2002 7:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 19460    I am a Stephen King nut... if you havent read the Richard Bachman books, you should really do so! It was when Stephen King was writing under the name Richard Bachman and the book has about 4 or 5 short stories. But as you know, Stephen King has no "short" stories! So they are kinda long, not novel long, but you get the idea. The Long Walk is one of the stories in the book and it is awesome! FroggyBaby
Date: 4/1/2002 7:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    If you like Desperation, be sure to read The Regulators too. I'm reading Dreamcatcher right now...
Date: 4/1/2002 7:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 49150    It scared the bejesus out of me. Most all of his book are awesome. The man's mind is surely warped. Cristal
Date: 4/1/2002 7:26:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51388    I have read The regulators but after i read desperation, lol, are you enjoying Dreamcatcher? I found it very interesting, Have you read The talisman, by stephen kind and peter straub? i didnt htink i would like it, but i really enjoyed it, and black house is a continuation of the talisman,Hearts of Atlantis was awesome too.
Date: 4/1/2002 7:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 45948    Dreamcatcher was awesome and so was Desperation and the Regulators!!!!!!
Date: 4/1/2002 7:28:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51388    FroggyBaby, I have read those books too, and thought that The long walk was a great story. I also enjoyed thinner, allthough the movie did not do the book any justice at all! lol ... tinebon=)
Date: 4/1/2002 7:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 6003    I have read all of Stephen Kings books. The Stand is my favorite. His novel called "It" is one of the scariest. Dreamcatcher is excellent too. His books are ALWAYS better than the movies. Other goodies are Geralds Game, The Tommyknockers, Nightshift, and The Shining to name a few.
Date: 4/1/2002 7:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 19173    I like Rose Madder the best. Pet Semetary was also really good. I have a book with 4 of his novels as Richard Bachman that I want to read. I read half of Insomnia but I put it down after half the book it was sooo boring, It should be read if you need to cure insomnia :)~
Date: 4/1/2002 7:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    Yep I have...I can't wait to read Black House, co authored with Peter Straub. They work so well together. And yes...I'm enjoying Dreamcatcher...
Date: 4/1/2002 7:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 35178    i havent read this but i work in a video store and someone wanted to buy all of the movies based on his books and i dont think anyone has mentioned the tommyknockers..the title caught my attention..i love horror too, and if i had the time i would be reading his books..i think he's an author that i will collect all his books and then when i am old and grey (and have spare time) will read them.
Date: 4/1/2002 7:34:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51388    One of the best short stories I read by him was The Langoliers... I cant remember if it is in Four past Midnight or not, another one I really loved was Needful Things!
Date: 4/1/2002 7:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    I forgot about the Shining that was also one of my favorites also. They are making a mini-series out of the Dead Zone, that should be pretty good. Why not go to your library? They should have all of Stephan Kings books.
Date: 4/1/2002 7:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 11341    The Stand is what got me into Stephen King books to begin with, I was 15. I love his writting! The Bad Place is my favorite from Dean Koontz.
Date: 4/1/2002 7:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    I like Intensity from Koontz..couldn't put it down.

Date: 4/1/2002 7:48:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51388    Yeah Misery was a good movie and I rented The Stand on DVD, (a 6 hour movie) and didnt think it was that good!!!
Date: 4/1/2002 7:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 5353    John Saul is an awsome author, so is King and Rice. Favorite King novel? Geez, too hard to pick, I'd have to say Needful Things, though. I'm in the middle of Dreamcatcher right now, but must admit I haven't read anything since Gerold's(?) Game. It's been a long time, I know. :P I've missed Hearts in(of?) Atlantis, The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon, etc... I can't think of all the others I've missed... Oh, I did read the Green Mile serial, bought them as the came out. :)
Date: 4/1/2002 7:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 48941    I love Stephen King. When my mom died I got her collection of his books and have been buying them since to keep adding to the collection. He has a very good imagination I think. My favorite is the book IT. laddybug44
Date: 4/1/2002 8:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    Here's a weird thought. Imagine going camping with Stev-o....the ghost stories he could tell....lol...man I'd be up all night...lol..
Date: 4/1/2002 8:15:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51388    LOL I never thought of that before lady , good point, it would be interesting! I read his book he wrote called stephen king on writing, its sort of a biography, he writes that all his novels reflect some point in his life, its very interesting!
Date: 4/1/2002 8:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 10534    I've never read any of his books...lol
Date: 4/1/2002 9:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 5892    I have been a Stephen King fan since I was 12 years old. (A long time!!) The first book I read at 12 years old was "Salem's Lot" It scared the bejeezus out of me. I taped together 2 popsical sticks into a cross and kept it under my pillow. I have read all his books- and prefer his older ones. I can't name a favorite- I love them all. Though my least favorite was "Pet Cemetary" because it was just to sad for me when Gage was killed. It was to grim. Currently I am reading his newest book, "Everything's Eventual" A book of "short" stories.
Date: 4/1/2002 10:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 51879    Nope, not wierd! I have read so many Stephen King books and Dean Koontz too actually now I am reading Phantoms... *MadAdams*
Date: 4/10/2002 8:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 6003    MadAdams, Phantoms is the scariest Dean Koontz book I've ever read, with Watchers a close second. I also like John Saul. Did any one here ever read Silence of the Lambs? It's SO much better than the movie. I started reading it at work one day, and stayed up till 3 in the morning till I finished it. I absolutely COULD not put it down!
