When he called her there that evening, he knew exactly what the outcome would be or so he thought. He had planned it all so very well and how could anyone turn down an Inspector after he explained that he was simply doing a routine investigation? Even if they could, how could they have resisted his uncommon charisma? It didn't matter whether they knew him or not..he had a way with words. He led her into the parlor where they had a brief chat about the events of the evening prior. She seemed quite nervous, but then, that was to be expected. They were always like that.
He was very clever in the way that he coaxed her into picking up things to examine and really for no good reason at all. It's obvious that he just wanted to make certain that her fingerprints were all over everything in the place. I'm sure she didn't think a thing of it after handling all of those items when she picked up and studied that little glass bottle. She isn't dumb, though.
Adultery and blackmail are a nasty business and he needed resolution. That's the reason things transpired as they did. He vowed to himself that he wasn't about to pay for his vengeance and a sister-in-law seemed to be the perfect candidate for the blame. The fact was that the girl at the pub simply had a quite friendly nature about her. His wife wasn't the only one who could catch the attention of another. It was certainly conceivable how such a thing could have happened and he thought that others would see it the same way. His own sister-in-law seduced him? Why not? It sounded like a plausable story to him. That was his story and that's all it was. It was just such a shame that the wife had to find out like she did.
She knew what he was up to all along and she knew all too well why he was doing all that he was. Well, to be honest here, her Sister did mess around a bit but she never would have if he hadn't been such a cruel........well, I won't even say it. I refuse to reduce myself to his level! Sure, her fingerprints were all over that bottle of poison but it was his signature which was on the disguarded credit card receipt! It is absolutely amazing how little they make them and how easy it is to hide video cameras these days!
