What should I do/say? Fire Cracker

Ok, I will just get to the point. This is more about my friend than me, but I would like some advice on what I shold say to her, you'll find out about what if you keep reading. Anyway, I am in 11th grade only 1 more year left of high school right? I have a friend who is also in 11th grade, and right now she is to the point where she wants to be really independent and she can't stand her parents. I think everyone goes through that at one point or another. Anyway she has been a really good friend, and she can be smart, its just that when it comes to school she is not interested, but who is? She has gotten good grades her whole school career and now being in 11th grade, she just wants to give up and she has talked about dropping out. And not just once, several times. I see no point in that especially now in 11th grade with a year left. I am the type of person that my friends come up to for advice and I can usually make them feel better, but when she talks of things like dropping out and moving out of her parents out when the only thing she would have to support herself is a $5.00 an hour paying job with about 5-8 hours a week if that, I have a hard time knowing what I should say. I have said what is obvious and it hasn't seemed to change her mind, so I was wondering can anybody else give me some advice on what I could say to her? Or should I let her do somethin that she will later regret? She is a really good friend and I so not want to see that happen to her. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and to anyone who respnds. :D

Date: 4/9/2002 7:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 39370    Hmm? Well this is a hard situation. Maybe hou should tell her that if she drops out of high school, she will never be able to amount to anything. Without a highschool deploma, she wont be able to get a good paying job, not be able to pay her rent, thus having to live with her parents because she wouldnt be able to support herself on her own. Maybe that would work? Good Luck! :)
Date: 4/9/2002 7:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 6317    If she is determined to do this, nothing you say will change her mind. I don't see how she will be able to support herself either. Let her know you care for her so she doesn't shut you out of her life for disagreeing with her. I'm guessing if she does this, she might come running home. Does she have a friend or relative she can stay with instead? Maybe she just needs a change. Good luck!
