not dumb at all. sounds like you have a serious phobia-- some people go all quivery when they see snakes, some people are afraid of heights, you're afraid of the dark. To be honest, I'm a little uncomfortable, myself, walking around a dark room. tain't got nothing to do with age or maturity. |

I will run out at night half naked if need be but I am pretty paranoid at night. When I turn off the lights in my bedroom I always see the shadows move because of a ghost that moves around but as the night goes on I get use to it and pass out. That’s the only reason why I am a little uneasy about going to sleep at night but I pass out. I love the blackness of night when there is a full moon out, it’s great. |

Not at all, fearing the dark and using common sense in the dark are two different things. Use common sense.

Well I am struggling with the concept... I mean I understand the taking the dog out, not a very good way to live... "in fear" I certainly would want to overcome the fear of being in your own home in the dark I mean geeze how awful... I wish I had some miracle advice but the only thing short of psychology/reading dianetics etc. would be to face up to your fears... start off small clearing the house with the lights on/ ok its safe, now turn all the lights off and walk through the house again no lights force yourself to go to sleep without a light on, maybe have a flashlight handy in case you get spooked but dont turn on the light!!! Force yourself to take your time when you go to the restroom at night convince yourself there is nothing to fear and even if their was you would be able to deal with it just the same as if it was light... Unless you live in SCLA etc. take the dog for a walk your an 18yr. old male your safe from nearly all criminal acts and if you need the backup take a weapon *make it a nonlethal one unless you know what your doing with it...* ie. pepper spray/the zapper etc. well I hope that you are able to over come your fear of the dark I can only imagine how difficult it must be... Take care, |

OH in case you havent heard the classic line... As simple as it sounds remind yourself that their is nothing in the dark that isnt there in the light... I know I know you just cant see it but how many times have you turned on the light to acctually see what it is you feared may be there... Take care, |

Don't worry. It's just a fear. I get like this from time to time. As long as it isn't a serious phobia, I think you should be okay. ^_^ *HUGS* |

I can't see why you would ever need to go to the bathroom. It seems to me that you already have the pee scared out of you! LOL... Personally, I prefer the dark. I like to go through life with the lights turned way down low. It's called "atmosphere." I want the bedroom pitch black when I'm in there. I guess I'm just different but I don't worry about anything scaring me in the dark. It amuses me consider who or what I may encounter in the dark and have a chance to scare! BOO! 8o

my 10yr old grandaughter does exactly the same thing as you and if I get up through the night the whole house is lit up, but as I was frightened of the dark myself when younger I just keep hoping she will grow out of it...good luck...cheers |

No it isnt. I used to sleep with a nightlight on til I was probably about 19 years old. Not all the time, it was more an on and off thing. Dont worry about it. It could be worse! |

There is nothing wrong with that. It took me untill I was around 21 to be able to go to sleep with my closet door open. I was scared of the closet monster. No really I was. When I was around 8 I had a nightmare that some big green skeletan monster walked out of my livingroom into my bedroom, raised a ax over me and was going to chop me up. So I covered my head up and when I uncovered it, I see it go into my closet. Since I was just very cautiou about having the closet door open. even after I got married, my husband thought it was cute and made fun of me. Finally I just got over it. But there is nothing wrong with you. There is some people afraid of heights, some that are afraid to be around people, some that are afraid of spiders, some afraid of snakes, some afraid of crowds, and there is tons more. You are just afraid of the shadows. So hang in there, you'll be able to control the fear soon, if not then don't get a night job. lol. No really don't worry. |

I also dislike the dark some times but I cant sleep with any lights on. I have to be in complete darkness to sleep. i even have a thick blanket over my window b/c my curtains dont block the tresspasing light from our neighboors huge light she keeps on in her back yard. |

Well, have you ever considered listening to the radio while you sleep? I used to have bedroom adjustment problems, and then I started listening to a peacful station @night.

I'm still scared of the dark sometimes too. It's scary because the littlest sound is magnified and the shadows are creepier! |
