Believe me, we've paid dearly! We continue to do so! Jeff and I were friends all our lives and we still manage to keep in touch. Some friends, you'll always have, I suppose, but at what price? I can't even discuss the details of that aspect of the situation. Dim the lights and let me tell you a little story. We were innocent...well, maybe not so innocent teenagers. We did a lot of wild things but we were just young. You live and learn. We picked up that paper in the free bin of classifieds and the like at the grocery store when we went there to try to buy some cigarettes that night. I worked there after school and I was sure that Bennie would sell them to me. There it was in that paper. I didn't even know that there was a psychic in town here. Was she for real? Who's to say? Let's just say that I ended up learning all that I needed to know. Who amongst us really knows the way of true gypsies? The mere thought of her still gives me the creeps! Jeff never liked her for some reason. Of course, we had to go and get our cards read and she hooked us into coming back over and over again. It was all Jeff's idea....what a hypocrit he turned out to be! I'm sure she grew accustomed to hearing smart remarks like, "Hey, Swami! Read any good tea leaves lately?" although I saw her disapproving looks. My sister, Laura, and I never quite understood his uncalled for ambivilance. Jeff just doesn't seem to understand what eventually happened to him to this day. Well, he asked for it as far as I'm concerned! We still talk to him from time to time through the Ouija board. I'm going to stop now because we've come full circle and we're right back to the part that I refuse to talk about. I just wish he would quit staring at me!
