Ok,here's the deal. I'm 18. I've been friends with this guy for a few years now. Well,he just turned 30 last week. We talk alot and about alot. But,sometimes we have those silent moments. Well, the last few weeks we've been talking everyday, usually on the phone. He just got aol and now we talk through im's somedays. Well, today is the first time in like a few weeks,I didn't call him or im him or email him. I feel kinda empty when we don't talk. This all probably sounds weird. But,I didn't know what to talk about today so I kinda just blew him off. I thought about calling him but I didn't want any silent moments. So,my question here is,what can we talk about? I'm new at all this. And,we have a really good friendship. So,it really sux going an entire day without talking to him. Usually when we start talking we can go for a few hours. It's just starting the conversation that's hard. I thought about emailing him one of those questionnaire things. So,he can learn more about me and maybe that would give us a conversation piece. haha Can anyone help me out? Sometimes,it seems like we talk about the same thing over and over again. So,what now, should we talk about? And,one last question? I never asked him this yet because I never thought of it. But,what kind of music do people in their 30's like? He probably doesn't like oldies but he probably doesn't like pop or new age. So,what kind of music do you like?

Date: 4/10/2002 11:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 21203    Why dont you ask him what kind of music he likes? That gives you something more to talk about. Gosh, I hope you dont think our music is considered OLDIES now! LOL Gosh, that is a shocker! *illumy stomps foot* I'm never gettin' old!
Date: 4/11/2002 12:11:00 AM  From Authorid: 35629    Hehehe shows what ya know lol i like KORN LIMP BIZKIT and a ton of pretty cool bands that the younger set listen too.:) I am 33 by the way.Why don't ya try out some of the gaming sites. That is fun to do and then ya can tease each other about who is winning or who is not.Hope that helps.
Date: 4/11/2002 4:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 51876    Everyone has different musical tastes no matter what age you are.The "silent moments" will be there as long as you love this guy.At least that's what it sounds like to me Bye........BruiextheGreenMan
Date: 4/11/2002 4:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 2183    I am nineteen and my husband is 36. We used to talk over MSN atleast eight hours a night (phone calls to England are pretty expensive). Once we started talking we never had a problem keeping the conversation going. We talked about nothing in particular, just life. There were those silent moments as well but I feel they had their place. Just call him and talk about anything on your mind, your thoughts about anything. He will enjoy that because he will be hearing what is in your head and your heart, as opposed to what you've got written on a list.
Date: 4/11/2002 5:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 46527    Well I don't really think anyone except your friend can help you on the music question, to group all over 30's together and ask what type of music they like is rather an 'age-ist' thing to do! People vary, the interests of a 40 year old guy may not differ wildy from that of one who is 20. I suggest you just carry on as normal and chat about the things that you have done before....why not ask him what his 5 favourite CD's in his collection are? That would be a roundabout way of finding out his tastes in music without saying...'Hey, what kinda music do you oldies like?
Date: 4/11/2002 5:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 46527    Oh and by the way, I am 37 and my eldest son is 15......we still fight over who owns which CD....so as you can see, age has no bearing on musical taste.
Date: 4/11/2002 6:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 48993    ok im 29 this year and my hubby turn 30 ......and we both listen to.....ozzy, disturbed, tantric, sevendust, linkin park(which is my sons fav band he is 6), pantera, fuel, old metallica (b 4 load of __), candlebox, slipknot,80's glam 80's hard metal, some country << note i said some (LOL), lauren hill, alicia keys, snoop dog, ice t, dr.dre, the beetles, grateful dead, oh i am , by the way looking thru our cd's to list the above!*winks* ...so really i dont think you can define a certain age to a certain music...lmho when we are 90 we will still be listening to ozzy ect. hehehheee.......I once heard a great quote by Paul Stanley from KISS and he said "music is the universal language"!!!~~~~daniedarlin
Date: 4/11/2002 6:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 25828    LOL, i'm 29 and i like all 'good' music. be it rap, classical, celtic, new age - hip hop, alternative...i like ragtime(no, i LOVE ragtime)..i like big band music...the only thing i absolutely can't stand - is country.
Date: 4/11/2002 6:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 15157    Hmmm how bout the Beatles? Elton John (Jeez I feel suddenly old) Chicago is a 30`s and overs favorite!...and LOL@ Silent Moments because all relationships have them!...The next silent moment you get...Look @ your Love and *sigh*<--Loudly!...and he will ask you whats wrong and WaLaaa!!!...Your Convo is born! Hey wait a minute! You are 18 and he is 30?. Wow that is quite a difference in likes and dislikes...does he go for the new music at all???
