The scene opens to a funeral home, the camera zooms through the room filled with flowers and one lone coffin which is surrounded by a an older couple and a woman in her 20's
woman: I can't belive she's gone (as a tears begin to roll down her eyes trying to hold them back)
mother: never question gods will, just know she's in a better place
The three embrace as the funeral curator comes in,
Curator: So have you chosen a Requim?
Denise (daughter): Yes, Lost ones by the passing moment
Denise: beings to sing:
To those that we love that have been lost that have gone on
Feel them now their warmth inside your soul the eyes that watch over those who need them most they are the angles of our life
(she begins to cry once again and is unable to finish. The father consoles her once again and nods to the curator to open the doors for the guests)
(The first person at the door is an ordinarily dressed man a bottle of water in his right hand and a bouquet of lillies in the other, he nods as the curator ushers everyone in. the man sits in the waiting room unlike the other guests who make their way into the greeting room) he looks uneasy to be there, after a moment he stands wispers to himself "what am i doing here" he begins to leave when antoher man calls his name
Man: Peter, Pete is that you?
(the man turns to see his old high school buddy Mike)
Peter: Michael, It's been sometime, what's it been 6 years?
Mike: About that, so what have you been up too?
Peter: Nothing really, living in California now, that's about it, You?
Mike: Well bought a house last year living up on Davis Street near where your parents lived, I'm sorry to hear about their passing.
Peter: Thank you that means alot, did you make their funeral?
Mike: Ya, was surprised you didn't
Peter: I tried but work had me out of the counrty
Mike: What kinda work you doing now?
Peter: In the entertainment field, you?
Mike: still cooking
Peter: good to hear you're doing well, family yet?
Mike: a son john he'll be 2 next month
Peter: look at you house good job family, I thought i would come back and find you still smoking grass on the Souza's porch (Peter gives a playful smile that screams of envy, Quickly changing the subject) Speaking of the Souza's have you gone in to give your condolinces?
Mike: No was just about to though, what about you?
Peter: no, hold up a minute I'll go in with you
(the two old friends sign the guest book before kneeling at the body in silent prayer, After a moment the rise and greet the family first the father)
Peter: Mr. Souza, it's me
Mr souza: Peter, it's been sometime, and mike been a couple of days.
Peter: I'm sorry to hear about your mother, I know what she ment to you and your family.
Mr. Souza: Thank you peter, and I'm sorry to hear about your parents passing. I want you to know the family was at the funeral and you were in our prayers. Your sisters seemed rather bitter you hadn't come.
peter: belive me I heard it, I was stuck overseas
Mr Souza: So you're still in the military?
Peter: No got chaptered a couple of years back, wasn't really my road in life.
(mrs souza comes over)
Mrs. souza: So what are you doing now?
Peter: I'm living in California, working in the entertainment field
Mrs. Souza: Glad to hear you're doing well, how long are you here for?
Peter: could only get 9 day. well it's nice seeing you again, but I should stop holding up the line
Mrs souza: Do stop bye before you go back will you?
Peter: of course
(mike begins to give his condolences while peter moves over to Denise, her head in her hands crying, Peter sits in the chair aside hers and begins to rub her back)
Peter: I understand
Denise: Who... who are you?
Peter: Come one I know it's been soemtime but please say you remeber me?
(Denise looks up and into Peters eyes)
Denise: Peter... Oh my god it's been almost forever
Peter: I know, are you OK?
Denise: How long has it been now?
Peter: about 7 years or so?
Denise: Married?
peter: nope, you?
Denise: Divorced
Peter: Kids?
Denise: Daughter, Stacey jsut turned 4
Peter: wow, a mom, good for you
(just then Mike comes over)
Mike: hey Denise
Denise: Mike
Mike: I'm about to take off and hit the bar, you wana come peter, catch up a little more?
(Peter looks at denise for a minute more and then)
Peter: ya why not
Mike (looking at denise): you look like you could need a night out, your parents already said they would watch Stacey so how about?
Denise: Ya I'll see you there when I get outta here
Peter stands and hugs denise before he and mike leave)
