yes it could happen again, very good post. Pammyjo told me once when I posted about this that it ended up being 11 million at the last count that actually died. I dont understand how so many could say this never happened. Havent they seen the films of all the dead bodies, havent they heard the cries of those that were there? Too many people giving the same story is NOT wrong, I just dont understand people. As I said good post. |

I got Night from the library last week, my 12 year old daughter got to it before I did and read it..she said it is excellent. I think you recommended the book in another post, so thanks, my daughter has learned alot, hopefully she has learned compassion..she is now reading another book about the Holocaust. We visited Dachau when she was about 5, but she doesn't remember much about it. I would like to think that the Holcaust couldn't happen again, but if you check out my post about jew-bashing taking place in Europe right now and some of the comments that people left you might think twice..it is so scary to think that some people still have such hatred in them. I'll just never understand it. |

Lievout: how can you say perish the thought? Our own government now has laws that almost totally destroy our freedoms. They are free to take charge at any time that they want to. There are people here from other countries right now being trained to be the police as OUR OWN police would NOT do what they want. The ones from overseas doesnt care what happens to us. Have you ever seen the show "red dawn" if not watch it, its closer to the truth than what you think. |

Yes, unfortunately it could happen again, and it could even happen here in the United States. The Holocaust, is perhaps the darkest mark in the book of human history, and I hope that something like it never happens again. |

Its so sad on so many levels that this happened, Hitler was actually a very intelligant man who did some great things, how someone so smart could be so cold and destructive like he was is beyond me. A past employer who was also an ex-SAS officer used to talk to me about war and society, he made me realise that due to so many conditions in our world things like that will happen again weather naturally or by man. I think I liked it better before I knew of such things, lets just hope we can stop something like this from happening again. |

Yes. With the way situations are, it is a possibility that any war tactic or any cruel means of torture can happen. |

If enough people get on their kick about genetic alteration to create "perfect" children and wipe out "bad genes" it will. There is not a doubt in my mind. |

I would have said a couple of years ago that in this age of communication and monitoring that it could not happen again. But look at what happened in Bosnia! Genocide is alive and well. And I know this is not a Palestine/Israel debate, and I am not trying to make it one. But, with Israel not allowing the U.N.inspectors into Palestine. and Jenin in particular, I wonder exactly what type of atrocities have happened there. I do not understand this world, this hate, and this revenge. Love and Light |

Yes it could happen......but I doubt it would happen around North America. Possibly in a third-world country though. I once visited the Halocaust museum in D.C., it didn't really hit me until I walked into a room and there were piles of the Jew's shoes........that were very old, and you could smell the old leather......then it hit me that yes these WERE real people and I cried. Good post! |

It could absolutely happen again. At the time of Nazi Germany the people didn't see anything wrong with it. They were frustrated and many of them were poor. A lot of the Jewish families, being as closeknit as a community that they are, were not suffering from the effects of the depression as the other common people were. So Hitler's idea of what to do with Jews was a step in the right direction, in the eyes of the other German people. Also, the pride they had lost during the previous war must've played a part. It's unfortunate that it happened. But it could definitely happen again. It already IS goin' on in parts of the world, just not on such a grand scale. I have a feeling that a Western country might end up doin' it, too. They'll sell some bogus story to justify it...just like they ALWAYS do. So keep your eyes peeled. Take care and never forget...Gallytuck. |

I have heard History repeats itself...But I pray this will never happen again. And as for that site togoto I will not. My father was in WW2 and he witnessed the thousands upon thousands of bodies piles high not to mention the hoards of personal items such as glasses piled high. He saw DEATH. He said he went into a gas chamber made up to look like showers:(...he saw what he thought was a green bar of soap...he went to pick it up and it was a rock made to look like soap. There were claw marks on the glass windows. What he was standing in was where they used to gas people:(...So terrible...when he speaks of it...it gives me the chills! |

I think we are forgetting Somalia...something like 100,000 people were murdered there, not to mention the Kurds in Iraq who were gassed by Saddam. These weren't on the scale of the holocaust or Jenin, but quiet a few died. |

I totally AGREE with FIRSTBORN here, ... I have been trying to keep up with our Gov't activities.. Just last night in the paper our very own Supreme Court slammed the disabled really BAD!!! It seems they have been doing a LOT of slamming, especially to the ones with DISABILITIES, so it is highly possible that our very own government is up to something and we get fed little pieces of that pie... Most of what is read in the paper IS propaganda, but some of it fits like a jig-saw puzzle.. It is scarey, but possible... |

Gail that is for sure. Look how sneaky they are to bring in the laws for euthinasia, spelled wrong, yes its suppose to be for those with illness that dont want to go on living. Some states have passed it, the law saying go ahead, kill thy self. HOWEVER how soon before any one can take a relative and drug them so bad that they sign the papers to be killed? To me its a form of murder and soon it will be legal everywhere. There are always some kind of loop holes so how many of the old and senile will end up dead because no one want to care for them, well heck lets just euthinize them, hey they are senile, and we have this big old loop hole and we can do it not go to prison. I mean this world is really turning bad. |

We've just been covering the Holocaust in my AP European Class. If people are not educated about the Holocaust then yeah it could definately happen again. If people are educated mabye next time someone will jump in and stop it before it gets out of control ~E-cutie86 PS. You mentioned how the mass murders were encouraged i may have an explanation (not that it justifys anything) Germany, and all of the Western world has a dark history of anti-semitism. This is why the Jews were such an easy scapegoat, a lot of people already hated them. |
