Is it possible to be happy all the time? Krazy Kritter

What do you think? Can you be happy all the time?

I personally don't know if you can but I only have my own life and feelings to base it on. I know that I'm not happy all the time, but I'm happy most of the time. Sometimes I'm overly sensitive and the smallest things will bother me to no end... and many times I'm just not satisfied with anything... me, my life, my actions, my looks, others and their actions... sometimes I'm not a happy person AT ALL.

I thought everyone was like this though. Maybe not every one is as unhappy as I am at times but I thought everyone has depressive ups and downs.

However, I was talking to one of my good friends today... and he said he's always happy. He said he's never sad and the only thing that ever upsets him is his parents. But I'm not sure if I believe this coming from him because I've seen him upset and I know he gets down.. he just doesn't like to talk about it. But it made me wonder...

How happy are you? Do you think it's possible to have an all time happy high? Wouldn't that be nice?

What do you think?

Date: 4/30/2002 9:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 21137    I used to think that people chose their emotions a lot of the time, but that was before... I'm not a very happy lately, but I know it's possile to be so happy for so long that you just can't stand it... Good post... you really made me think..
Date: 4/30/2002 9:18:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11348    Yeah I'd like to know how too Bethann... but sometimes I have to wonder if when you have those happy moments if they can be everlasting... or at least 95% everlasting. I'm not talking about when you have a reason not to be happy... just general unhappiness for no reason. Without something bad happening to you, is it possible to stay happy? Can you ever be totally satisfied with yourself?
Date: 4/30/2002 9:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 18376    Only in our dreams!!
Date: 4/30/2002 9:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 21867    Yes...it is possible. I work with people who are. Mind you, I work in Mental Health and these people are happy due to the effects/symptoms of their illness. Though I wonder if we should label them as unwell and provide them support to 'return to normality'. What is normality? Being depressed? Having no hope? These clients may well be 'off the planet'...but the planet they are on is SOOO much nicer:) Peace,
Date: 4/30/2002 10:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 35160    personally , no i dont think its possible 2 be happy all the time, but i sure do try 2 be, but we all have our bad days, with my case , its been a couple of bad months, lol, but i try not 2 let it get me down so much, i dont want 2 be a sourpuss, i want 2 be happy, and try 2 make others happy as best i can. but like i said,, we all have our bad days, 8^) huggs shay
Date: 5/1/2002 1:11:00 AM  From Authorid: 52746    Some people just seem to have such a sunny disposition, it's hard to imagine that they're ever unhappy. Maybe it's all down to their expectations of situations and those around them and they don't set these expectations too high, therefore they cannot be disappointed. But I think, sometimes, it's good to feel unhappy for a bit because it makes you look at a situation that you feel maybe not quite right and if you can change it, if not, remove yourself from it so that when you are happy again, you feel much better about things.
Date: 5/1/2002 4:19:00 AM  From Authorid: 10722    Not it's not possible, cause its different emotions that all make up what life is.
Date: 5/1/2002 6:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 48993    no way! being happy all the time is an impossibility!! people can "fake" being happy but inside they are not !! with happiness comes sadness...... there has to be an equal balance .... you cant really "know" happiness if you have never known sadness!
Date: 5/1/2002 8:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 24732    Actually I think it is possible, some people are manic. Not manic depressive similar to bi-polar where a person goes from extremely happy to extremely sad. People with depression are more common, but there are manics around. I don't think it's a good thing though. They are not only happy, but they also are hyperactive and overly giddy to an extent that it is out of control. It's due to a messed up chemicals in the brain and it is a mental disorder.
Date: 8/10/2002 8:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    if it's possible please tell me how you do it! LOL!
