Finals coming up...any good ways to study?

I don't give myself much time for homework and studying, being I like to have fun. But now I see finals approaching and my slackery has put me with a 83 in a biology class. I really don't want a C...because I like my summers and groundation would surely follow a C...so does anyone know any good studying tricks? Thanks for the advice...

Date: 5/1/2002 10:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 31255    Also, don't just read make sure you write down the important info. If you already have it written down then write it over. Reading info and then writing it down helps to memorize.. Or even turning the info into a question and quizing yourself will help you... Good Luck, I have finals in about 3 weeks... yucky stuff! But the work and effort is well worth the grade I think
Date: 5/1/2002 10:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 16916    Dont try to cram it all into your head, study in time periods, take breaks and pick a place free from distractions, tell your friends that you cant do anything because your studying, I know its hard to tell friends that because im the same way, but if you want a good grade its a must :) this is how I study Good Luck *Huge Chocolate Kissies*

Then after you finished that chunk of it, move on to the next, and do the same. Just, don't cram it all in one night or anything, you don't want to have an overload, that'll make you forget faster than anything.
Date: 5/2/2002 4:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 7672    Make a planning and stick to it ! Make sure that you take a break now and then, and ask your mom to cook healthy food (most people forget that studying takes a lot of energy).
Date: 5/2/2002 4:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 47218    well, the important thing is not to wait till the last minute and cram. You're going to have to set a studying schedule for yourself, starting immediately. Look over all the material that you need to study, then divide it into increments, so that you can do a little bit each day before your exam. f.i-- you can study one chapter of biology per day, plus go over the study questions at the end of the chapter. Give yourself breaks if you need to, and give yourself a treat at the end of each session that you complete successfully (e.g. 30 minutes of television). Tell your parents so that they can encourage you to stick to your guns, and discourage from running off and doing other things, as you may be tempted to do. Also, pick out for any material that you didn't understand well, so you can go ask for your teacher's help now, while you still have time.
Date: 5/2/2002 7:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 42519    Everybody here has some great suggestions, but what works for me is to associate one thing with something else, but that usually only works on Vocab. tests.... Dont know what to tell ya bro! Start studying NOW!!! Orders from your sister say study NOW, and dont slack off like I do and jepordize your graduation..Love ya tonz...
Date: 5/2/2002 2:14:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51979    Thanks everybody, all of your suggestions have really helped, I will make sure to start studying and pace myself. Thank alot everyobdy!-VitalDeath
Date: 5/2/2002 3:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 30786    This is the best studying method you will ever hear. I thought I invented it, but it actually turns out that this is the way they teach you to do it in University. What you do is ask for an outline of the course material or test material if you don't have one already. Then gather all your notes you need, and rewrite them (as long as there is not a whole lot of material and there is no way you'll have enough time) then take notes on every topic and concept you've studied. Take notes on the worksheets you've done, redraw diagrams, the whole bit, and put it into a study package and look that over. That way it's reimprinted into your head and you have all the important stuff right in front of you
