If anyone out there is looking to buy a new washer/dryer, might I suggest a front-loading washer? We got a new one about a year ago (Frigidair Gallery series), and couldn't be happier with it. Our clothes come cleaner, the "tumble-care" washing action is not nearly as hard on the clothes as a regular washer, and to top it all off, they are so very energy-efficient! A front loading washer uses 6,000 gallons LESS water per year than a regular washer (more water than a person drinks in a lifetime), and they spin so fast that they extact more water, therefore needing far less time in the dryer ( I can dry a load of towels in about 30 min). The pair cost about $1200, but again, it's worth it for all the "perks". I highly recomend the new front loading washers!
