It isn't justifiable for anyone to be a racist. All are equal in the eyes of the law. Also, what minorities do you mean here? Racial minorities of what specific ethnic group? Minority can be anything not the majority-from per capita income to skin tone. ![]() |

It isnt always equal in the eyes of the law as much as anyone will want to believe that. It can apply to any race in actuality because some people now want to classify caucasian or "white" as now being a "minority" in addition to hispanics and african-americans. ![]() |

Let me set this straight. I never once ASSUMED that all people see it the way I do. I know a great deal do not. I find that at one point in my life before I grew up and became educated in the area and decided on the law as my future that maybe I even thought it was at times justified, but now based on what I have learned, I do not find it justified. And when at any point did I EVER make a statement that would indicate my views were "one-minded conclusions" as I never said that my views were applicable ever single person in this nation as a whole. And in your asking for facts, you fail to present them in favor of either side of the argument, as a fact would indicate specifications and cite sources. And if you require further Evidence as to the statement of equality among all, I strongly urge you to reread our Constitution's Amendments, and solely concentrate on the first fourteen, with special emphasis on the Fourteenth Amendment and it's protection based on Personhood, not ethnicity, under the Equal Protection Clause. I realize that this country has not realized its full potential regarding equality, however in the eyes of our government and our laws, it does not matter if you are black, white, green or purple, you are entitled to the same rights. Even illegal immigrants have rights here (as you will find if you look in Supreme Court case Plyler v. Doe, which granted illegal immigrant children the same right to a public education as citizens and naturalized citizens). So please do not call a person "one-minded" for not having YOUR opinion. ![]() |

No! Racism is hatred pure and simple! I had no control what was done in this country years ago. I am not against anyone whatever color, creed, or belief. If I don't care for a person, it's because of the person themselves not the whole nationality they are supposed to represent. I am appaled by the racism going on in the world! My gosh! If they did the DNA far enough back, we are all related and from the same origin! Reverse Racism is still Racism!!!!! ![]() |

Jestr, let me ask you a question, have any african Americans today been slaves in this country by any living American white person? When was the last time you saw a group of cowboys slaughtering Indians? People alive today were not around for those things, one side is not justified, and the others are not to blame. ![]() |
Date: 5/23/2002 8:19:00 AM

Did I have slaves? No, so I cannot be held accountable for the actions of others. Was I a slave? No, so I am not justified in blaming anyone around me. Also, You cannot blame an entire group for something only a small group did. Two wrongs NEVER make a right, but two lefts will make a u-turn. ![]() |
| Date: 5/23/2002 10:05:00 AM From Authorid: 54196 Absolutely. The human psyche is a vastly unpredictable thing, and any number of sets of circumstances can guide you into being racist, least of all xenophobia, which everyone has to a degree. Racism is not necessarily a positive characteristics of humans, but a normal and justifiable trait. Also, I think by saying the word RACIST in the post, the author established what kind of minority was implied. Think about it. |
| Date: 5/23/2002 10:09:00 AM From Authorid: 54196 You all sound as though racism is a choice, like people woke up one morning and said, "Yeah, I think I'll hate blacks today!" Racism is a lot like homosexuality, environmentally stimulated and certianly justifiable. |

In this day and age, no one should be raceist. We just keep pushing other races away when we (whatever race we are) talk smack on other races. There will never be equality and the feeling of equality as long as US people keep running our mouths!! Maybe we should wake everyone up and tell them that?!!! oh and do you know that white people as far as population goes here in the us, are also a Minority!?? :P just an interesting fact I thought you would like to know! ![]() |

Yo ChicaBella, As a minority in my own country...and belonging to a people who were often systematically hunted down and either killed or dispossessed of our land, I would say a very firm NO. No matter what the history one has suffered...it does not give one the right to treat others as they have been treated, if anything it provides even MORE reason not to...for they themselves know how demoralising it can be, so should be even more willing not to inflict that on anyone else. Peace, ![]() |

Yo Loserpunk, Racism ISN'T a choice??? While I agree that ones environment can create such a negative effect that you might end up detesting certain people/cultures etc...but at the end of the day you have to ask are you a person or solely a product of your environment? Do you have a brain, an ability to choose? Or are you just some mindless autonomaton...some robot with no sense of self or self determination? How disempowering that must be to hold the opinion that "I am a product of my environment, nothing is my fault or my responsibility"...granted, you didn't say that...but I am using that to highlight the point that we ARE in fact open to make chooses. Life may deal us the cards...but ultimately WE decide how we shall play them. Peace, ![]() |

I did not get jumpy. I think you are the one who has the ultra defensive attitude here. I stated facts and did not assume, I quoted you making a statement about me. And if you have been slandered, you have the right to take them to court as well, at the least call on them. I'm not trying to offend you, but I do like to thoroughly illustrate my points. And no, I still do not think racism is justifiable. ![]() |

Persephone, as much as it seems that im defensive, its simply a "defense-mechanism", everyone has these and not an intent to cop an attitude with you or anyone...When I post, I post for all those who reply, welcoming all opinions...applying it to all. I am aware I may pursue legally. Your last reply that you stated was in fact the answer to the debate i questioned, lol Just as much as anyone may say racism or prejudice doesn't exist, it does...its very hard to avoid and ignore...again, thanks for your reply...absolutely no hard feelings. *~ChicaBella~* ![]() |

You're right that it exists, I've seen it in my town and where I go to school. I try not to let it into my environment though. If I have a friend who is acting "racist" I tell them to knock it off. I don't think the attitude that comes with racism is appealing in the least bit, nor is it excusable in my eyes...But just because it exists doesn't mean that people stop fighting it.. ![]() |
| Date: 5/28/2002 8:30:00 AM From Authorid: 54196 Ah, but Agent Smith, you're speaking from a position of enlightenment. Few people have the raw material to make the type of informed choices that you're eluding to. Get told something your whole life, have a plethora of examples to back up your thinking and simple logic cannot win out. It's a nice sentiment, good for movies and whatnot, but in reality? |
