In the winter of 1980, I woke up late one morning, and whilst stretching and yawning I saw a strange object in the sky. The window was right next to the bed, so blinking away my sleep, I lifted the sash window and put my head out to view the object better. It was circular or cigar shaped, completely black and moving very slowly... now I had always thought I was pretty good at recognising aircraft of all shapes and sizes... but this I did not. At first I thought it was a barrage balloon or blimp, but closer inspection with binoculars revealed it to have no rear fins, no gondola, or any visible means of propulsion, and absolutly no markings-it was if it was a black hole in the sky. I watched it awestruck for about five minutes, whereupon it simply vanished back into the cloud ( It was 10/10 ths cloud cover-dull overcast). I have never seen anything like it before or since... weird! How it changed my life:It made me much less sceptical regarding the existence of UFO's.
