Achluophobia~ fear of darkness

What's that noise?!
I curl up in bed.
Could it be,
that eyes are watching me?,
I pull the covers up to my head.

I closed the closet door,
before I went to sleep.
Is it behind my curtains,
hiding in a heap?

Could it be my brothers,
out to frighten me?
Scarying me, and
terrorizing me,
with stories of moving dolls,
and a hand that crawls?

The doorknob turns.
I break into a cold sweat.
A head pops into my room.
'Karen, Go to sleep',
my mom says.
